Disneyland Park - Pleasing the Masses

Ok, we have had a thread about what you would do to enhance Walt Disney Studios Park. Obviously, that is a higher priority than Disneyland Park for the resort and Euro Disney SCA, but we can't leave Disneyland Park out can we?

I would install a night time spectacular, to open around 2006-2007 in a big lake location at the back of Fantasyland, where Toontown is at Disneyland, Toontown Fair at MK etc. Something along the lines of Fantasmic! but involving a lot more 'good' Disney characters, placing them in some peril but not too much peril cos this is Disneyland!
Something that lifts the mood of the crowd up, something that can be performed even when it is raining, something dramatic and epic. Something that can dominate the schedule of Disneyland Park guests at nighttime.

Also, maintenance at the Park is going right down. On my last trip, one thing that sticks in my mind is the paint peeling off the drawbridge hand rails at the SBC. Eurgh. I personally view the SBC at Paris as the most stunning of all Disneyland/MK castles, yet a simple thing like peeling paint detracts from the whole image.

The park is one of the most visually stunning Disney parks out there.

I know this always comes up, but the Little Mermaid and BatB dark rides that got shelved are vital to rejuvinating Fantasyland. Discoveryland seems pretty fine with Mission 2 and a Buzz clone coming up, Adventureland needs a Tiki Room, the Pirate ship is pretty cool, Frontierland is in good shape, Main Street is stunning as ever......

Any suggestions? There must be something to plus the park up

I still think that a Splash Mountain will be a real crowd pleaser!
I also miss a Toon Town and down understand why Disney did't already build it near Fantasyland. It is not that expensive and will definitely please the mass (and me .
I agree with you that the Disneyland Park needs some maintenance. Especially Fantasyland looks kinda shabby. The pink isn’t quite pink anymore.
But what also needs to be renewed is the Parade. It contains only the old floats. Only the themed parades are original, the rest is just put together with some floats from the old days.
A parade with all new high-tech floats, just like in California, will shake up things and I think the Disneyland Park really deserves such a parade!

More ideas to come…

I think Tiki Room never made it into the park for the same reason as the Jungle Cruise; the attraction relies on jokes & humor but the park has mulitple languages.

And don't forget that the Explorer's CLub restaurant (now called Colonel Hathi's) was originally full of audio-animatronic birds, as a tribute to the Tiki Room. They could do with fixing thos eup again - there are only a handful left, and none of them move any more!
As for Toon Town, I'm really not sure. I don't think it would fit into our park as easily as it does in the others. Now Mermaid Lagoon on the other hand...

I also think a new attraction in Fantasyland will do a lot. I don´t know what. A new dark ride, maybe Winnie the Pooh will do. But I heard some rumors that they´re already planning the Pooh ride and that it´s going to replace the Pinoccio dark ride. I hope not because I love that one !

They left a spot for Toon town.. but with Toon Studios it may or may not happen.. (might still.. the Studios is mostly Pixar characters.....)

I say what DLP needs is something unique... like a new ride never done before at a Walt disney park... hmm.. but what...
