Pin trading at DLP

Hello, just wondering if I should bring some pins to trade when I visit DLP in April. Do the CMs trade like at DL and WDW?

If yes, any differences in the etiquette?

Re: Pin trading at DLP

yes we've got the Pin Trading as well in Paris . If you come on weekends you might see the Pin Traders in the park and check the Pin Trading Event Dates i think there is one in April or May .

Generally all CMs in shops wear a pin lanyard and trade pins .

Re: Pin trading at DLP

I find pin trading in DLP to be dull.. Not too many LE pins on sale, and way too many rack pins that I find uninteresting. I have only collected some of their attraction pins that are unique to that resort, and whatever LE they may have on sale. Of course.. with the 15th anniversary fast approaching.. anniversary pins would be good to buy for collecting purposes.

Re: Pin trading at DLP

Thank you TDLFAN and DLRP_bopazot. Good advice on trying to find the Anniversary or LE. I guess it will be more of a buying experience than a trading one.

Re: Pin trading at DLP

I'm afraid so. Pin Trading used to be rife a few years ago, but our last trip in May 2006, only cast members were trading and we had all the pins they were trading. That said, the trading dream is the pin board near plaza gardens, that comes out usually between 11 - 3 (ask cast members at the pin cart) where there are pins from around the globe, and some very old EuroDisney pins (pre trading/pre Disneyland Paris) sometimes. Rule is a pin or a pin, one trade per guest per day. A limited edition for a limited edition (though this is not always enforced). Hope that helps.

Re: Pin trading at DLP

oh, and to be honest, when we were at WDW just after Thanksgiving, there wasn't a whole lot of trading going on there either. I think the fad is going the way of the beanies and now people are purchasing for their personal collections in the main.

Re: Pin trading at DLP

Thanks davewasbaloo. Funny you mention WDW. I'm there for 1 day also in March before a trade show. I just assumed it would be the same as DL.

In regards to Pins loosing it... I blame Disney for killing the goose that laid the golden egg. The outregiously HUGE amount of pins available for trading is simply ludicrous... What used to be a fun hobby, has turned in a business for them. Very shrewd move and I resent it. The there were the dealers who made it difficult for the casual participant by adding their own estimation of value to some of the LE pins. No fun anymore and I wish WDC did the same thing OLC did at TDR years ago: Pull the plug on pin trading forever.

As long as they still sell the park and resort related ones.
