Anaheim double for Paris

I was watching the commercial for the 15th here http://www.dlrp.fr/actu_publicite_15...aris_1036.html
and noticed that most of the scenes were from Disneyland in CA and not Paris. In the beginning when Mickey is holding the carpet that is the back of Sleeping Beauty Castle (CA) also that is CA's Main Street, the real banners are a lot higher, the most obvious was the Alice in Wonderland float from the Parade of Dreams. It look as though it was done in the early morning becasue at the end the ground looks wet and the sky isn't completely blue.

Notice also when the Disney parks banner comes up at the end which castle it features.

Makes sense. For the Dreams promotion in Anaheim, most of the footage seems to be coming from WDW in Florida. Is it really that hard to film a commercial for the right theme park?

Re: Anaheim double for Paris

It's laziness. Disney has always re-used some footage, but now they are really being cheap. The obvious footage from California is terrible marketing. Then they show that last frame of Sleeping Beauty Castle with the candles, then switch to that Dreams castle...??? What is also bad is the use of California and Florida footage in the new TOT commercial for Paris. I could understand using the California tower, but not Florida's. They go back and forth between the different buildings. It is awful. A

There is a Disneyland commercial here out on the west coast now that is showing the same WDW commercial, but they altered the castle at the beginning, put in a snip about the submarines, but left the rest of it Disney World footage. It is awful how they are cutting and pasting these different castle's into recycled footage of the wrong parks. Do they think we're dummies?

Bad marketing. The best "Dreams" commercial I have seen showcasing the parks is the Rockin' promotion ad. At least it used the right footage for the right parks.

They are lazy when they do stuff, like on the vaction DVD when they are talking about the Parade of Dreams they show scenes from the Disney Dreams Come True Parade and the Parade of Stars, they also show the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland Entrance when the yare talking about Disneyland's Tomorrowland.

Re: Anaheim double for Paris

I worked Guest Control for the filming of this way back in early December. I was wondering when it would pop up.

That is downright laziness. Why would they do that when they have plenty of footage already for the RIGHT park or advertisement?

Cool Re: Anaheim double for Paris

Well if it's a choice between spending money on new footage for advertising, or more money for, say, ride developement, park upkeep or even the kid that sweeps up spilled popcorn, then I for one would put advertising footage on the bottom of the list.

A bientot.

At least they bothered to color Cinderella Castle pink in one of those early promos. How they managed that before CGI I'll never know.

Re: Anaheim double for Paris

Actually, I remember when they filmed this in CA a few months back. It's brand new footage, but I remember asking someone on Main Street why they were filming a Paris commercial in the US. They said it had something to do with France's weather at that time. It was cold and snowy, nowhere near the effect they wanted for the shoot. So Voila! Brand new footage....from a completely different theme park.

Thanks; I noticed that too - especially the side-by-side seating arrangement on 'Splash Mountain' (they show the log dropping down the flume...)
It does kinda make you go, 'Huh?'

Re: Anaheim double for Paris

I guess they figure that the average tourist just won't know the difference between Anaheim, Orlando, and Paris. They're practically the same cities anyway.

It kinda reminds me of Soarin' at Epcot where many people think you're flying over MK and not Disneyland, and can't comprehend why the castle is magically smaller.
