Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

Just remembered something that happened when I was last at DLP (which feels like a million years ago but which was actually a month ago).

Upon leaving Disneyland Park during the day, we had our hands stamped for re-admittance. However this only happened once and every time we 're-admitted' the tickets were easily accepted by the turnstiles machines (including that one day we had out hand stamped).

So what's with that? Do we need our hands stamped? Doesn't seem that way. Did we get our hands stamped? Once yes.

Was this a befuddled CM or a more sinister tagging type conspirisy? What are the experiences of y'all?

Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

We have APs to Disneyland and yet we have our hands stamped. What's up with that? It's my understanding that this is to prevent the handing of tickets/APs through the fence to a waiting friend who then enters without paying. If he doesn't have a hand stamp, then he's not getting in.

Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

When my wife and I went in June, a friend of ours, who is a Cast Member, let us into the parks with his Pass En Scene. He had to be with us each time we entered a park, or transfered between them, and he made a point of asking for hand stamps for the three of us, each and every time. Whenever we re-entered the park (or moved to the park next door), he would tell the Cast Member at the entrance where we had come from. About half of them would check the hand stamps, and the rest just shrugged and waved us through.

This is a long and drawn out way of saying... sorry, don't have a clue!

That would make sense...

except they only stamped our hands once in our five day trip (we flitted between parks and the hotel on all five days) and never once checked our hands for stamps.

Wierd!

Of course any system can be circumvented by somebody willing to put the time into being devious. Frankly, I think the hand-stamp is half "for show" to prevent spontaneous misbehavior.

Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

That's the only logical conclusion but it really is a half-hearted attempt.

Then again, so are the 'security checks'.

Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

Here is the deal: you only need your hand stamped if you have a single park admission without park hopper.

Any annual pass does not require a hand stamp.

Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

My tickets were park hoppers.

This is why they installed the fingerprint readers at the turnstiles at WDW. You can't just give your ticket to someone else to enter the park. It has to be you.

No - the words need rewriting...

"It has to be you,
It has to be you,
You walked through the gate,
Gave your pass to your date,
And that just won't dooooo"

Cool Re: Stamping My Foot on Hand Stamping

Not only were our hands never stamped, but more often than not we just inserted our tickets into the turnstiles directly and passed through without a CM even being involved.

A bientot.

That's pretty normal. CMs seem to be on the turnstiles mainly to open the door for buggoes and wheelchairs and to attend to the blithering idiots who put their tickets in the wrong way around (usually they are directly in front of me in the queue!)
