Re: Adventure Isle Poll

I would love for it to be completely refurbed although I would not want the theme changed as I feel adding the movie would effect it's atmosphere and take away alot of the magic. Especially SFRT, I never want it's theme changed. It's already perfect in my opinion, but it needs a refurb.

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

My worry Fizzy is that you seem to want to change the whole of Adventureland into POTC-land. Although I like the idea of the POTC ride getting film elements, re-theming Adventure Isle, changing The Jolly Roger to The Black Pearl (or The Flying Dutchman) and possibly theming Splash Mountain with POTC (as I think someone suggested) is too much.
I personally think that the POTC movies are too dark and scary to have too much presence in the park. To retheme Adventure Isle (essentially a kids play area and walkthrough) seems to defeat the object. To change the ship would mean losing Skull Rock which IMO is one of the most visually stunning areas in the whole park (including the ship in front) and both of the POTC ships are too dark and creepy looking (although yes, they are cool!).
My thoughts - POTC belong in POTC!

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

I mean either a POTC ride movie boost or an Adventure Isle movie boost, the latter of which I would much prefer. And I don't think removing another themed urinal from the park will make that much of a difference.

I'm not too attatched to Skull Rock or the Jolly Roger or the dated and unknown SFRT. I just don't think they should be kept there for nostalgia or whatever else, they need a shot in the arm, but a lasting one, not one with a Jack Sparrow AA every two seconds like the POTC rides in the US.

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

I'm with Fizzy on this one - Adventure Isle is badly in need of a refurb, and I think the Pirate's Lair overlay (which seems to have had its origins in DLRP anyway) would be the perfect opportunity to do something new and different with it. I wouldn't go as far as demolishing Skull Rock though; the Rock still rocks! I wouldn't even change Hook's ship into the Black Pearl, but it would be kind of cool to turn it into a Royal Navy clipper. Give the East India Company a bit of presence in the park.

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

Indeed, and maybe have the Black Pearl in another location that you have to discover? Anyone with me? Skull rock could stay if the ship was replaced

But that's my favorite urinal!

That would surely create what another poster would refer to as a 'pu pu platter'.

Nathan

I'm with you on this. I think Adventure Isle is a wonderfully themed area of the park. The POTC films would darken the area considerably but then I think they dropped the ball after the first film. I would perfer so see a safari ride put in close to Indiana Jones along the line of that was ment to be part of the initial expansion of the park. Adventure Isle is a nice transition between POTC and Indiana. Let's not see the POTC take over this magical park of the park.

I'm not even sure I want the POTC ride to get the Jack Sparrow referb that the other parks have had. The Paris POTC is superior to Florida now so why mess with it is my view

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

Ok, agreed, Adventure Isle needs tarting up and refurbishing movies or not and does work well as a transition to Indy. But what about the Robinsons? Is anyone else sporting my pessemistic viewpoint that simply nobody cares?

No Swiss Family Robinson (along with Treasure Island) was a favorite of mine as a kid. I love the treehouse, and even though you may not know the story, when everything is working it is really cool. That said, the Treehouse does need a major refurb!

I agree. I think the Swiss Family Treehouse should stay. I sure like it a lot better than the Tarzan Treehouse at Disneyland, plus the Swiss Family Robinson is a classic novel that is timeless in my opinion. I would hate to see it given a Pirates overlay.

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

I just feel no one cares about the swiss family robinson, it's just a tree house. I'm sure Walt Disney said something at some point about keeping up with the times. At least Peter Pan (as in Jolly Roger/Skull Rock) are still remembered and recognized, I just don't think SFM is. I don't wanna see a total movie overhaul, just references and touches as part of the big refurb

Re: Adventure Isle Poll

Even in the highest of high season, SFRTH attracts about four people max!

I would say that the film is almost forgotten and certainly not known by the average child but the same could probably be said for 20000 Leagues Under the Sea and I would hate to lose the Naughty-lass.

At the least, SFRTH needs attention but will DLP spend money on such a little-visited and little-loved site? I have never heard anyone returning from DLP and saying something along the lines of "the rides were ok but, man oh man, that tree house was the berries" (or however the youth of today speak!).

To be black-and-white about it, SFRTH is strictly for the grannies and should be up-rooted and replaced with anything apart from a pin trading station.

To be honest about it, I don't really care. It adds to the atmosphere of the land, attaches nicely to Adventure Isle and I tend to just walk straight past it anyway.
