Is Captain Jack comming in November?

So the rumours were that Captain Jack was comming to the Paris (and best) POTC in May. It was questioned how this would be done without down time. I now see the POTC will be closed from 19th to 30th of November. Is this to install Captain Jack AA?

Personally I have mixed views. I always felt the Paris version of the ride hangs together better than the other versions of the ride and I don't want messed up with the introduction of Captain Jack. When I rode it in June alot the special effects had been fixed and it was great.

Also would Captain Jack in the ride give even more of an excuse for people to take flash photos. Here's an idea for a referb...technology that allows the Pirates to shoot guests taking flash photo...I guess with water.

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

11 days seems too small a time-frame to give the whole ride a complete makeover - or even add a couple of AAs for that matter.
On my last visit in August, POTC needed some attention (am I the only one who has seen the dog minus its bunch of keys?!) and I suspect that is all that will be happening in this closure.
Also, DLP are girding their loins for the unveiling of ToT and Stitch. I doubt whether they will spend as much money on POTC as that sort of work would require. The adding of Sparrow if or when it is eventually done will probably be in a quiet time new-attractions-wise and be greeted with much heralding by the marketing department.

Disneyland Paris can't afford it now because all the budget went next door The WDS .

Good! I'd hate to see Jack there. Love to see a good refurb though, it doesn't need it desperately, some bits look great, but some torches aren't aflame and some audio is rather quiet/outtasync

Hm. I rode pirates two weeks ago and everthing was in perfect shape. Everything was working and the dog had his keyring.

I hope they don't add Jack or anything else from the movie. I love pirates the way they are now.

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

Its interesting to note that if POTC does not get the movie makeover by the end of this year, it will have essentially 'missed the boat'. Christmas will see the DVD release of At World's End and after that...? Well, let's just say that the law of diminishing returns shown with the two sequels means that less people are wanting a part four now than ever before. Would DLP make the changes once the franchise has ceased? Maybe, but surely leaving it as it is would attract a lot of Disney Park fans from all over the world once they are well and truely sick of the 'improvements' in their local park.
In a few years time, DLP's Sparrow-free POTC may be more of a blessing than a curse.

Could be, but "international Disney fans" make up about oh, 0.4 percent of DLRP guests. Financially, they'd be better off attracting local Europeans who just want to see Johnny Depp as an animatronic.

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

I have to say, my current viewpoint is I hope they do nothing with the attraction apart from give it a huge makeover and maybe a couple of movie touches but nothing more.

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

I personally say add the AA's its done wonders for Tokyo Disneylands version. And seeing that all POTC related merchadise features Jack Sparrow it makes sense. But personally I too would perfer any budgets go into fixing the current attraction.

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

But the ride loses all longevity as soon as Jack is added. In stead of being a ride based on the universally loved theme of pirates it bcomes and outdatable movie ride, especially when I think design-wise everything in Paris' POTC is perfect

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

Interesting comments Fizzy. At least they are when coupled with your desire to swap Hook's Jolly Roger for The Black Pearl and generally change Adventureland into Sparrowsville!

Re: Is Captain Jack comming in November?

No no, I just want the movies represented in-park, Adventure Isle being the perfect place
