Are you a DLP rulebreaker?

It's against the rules of the park. In fact it's downright naughty! But have you done it?

Sure. Everyone with access to Salon Mickey does. God I love that place!

I'm not proud...but I have. I don't normally, I'm happy to buy the grub (I was surprised at the value, much better than I remembered) but sometimes it's nice to sit in some random bench and eat a sandwich

Been there. Done that. Interesting that the CMs don't enforce the 'no picnics' law.

And the bag-checkers at the gate don't bat an eye at a rucksack full of sarnies!

And I'm just a lowly peasant with no access to Salon Mickey - hence my crafty wrapping up of bread rolls and bits of cheese at the breakfast table!

Re: Are you a DLP rulebreaker?

The breakfast rolls are the same everywhere anyway -- ooh, sounds like Andy Warhol on Coke (there's a misinterpretation waiting to happen). The Santa Fe, the Disneyland Hotel, even Salon Mickey (which really isn't all marble and caviar, but I'm happy to keep the myth alive)... They've all got the same pastries and coffee.

But what's so nice about Salon Mickey is that you're essentially inside the park, and you can grab all the croissants you can get your hands on and walk straight out the door onto Main Street. Where people are in line to pay €5 for one, haha. It's horrible, but I'm happy to be on the good side of the class divide.

What, are they going to storm the castle and demand pains au chocolat for all?

But do look into that shareholder thing. It's not that difficult and makes you feel quite important. Plus it has the biggest restroom on site. Not that you'll be needing one for a while after all that refined flour...

Re: Are you a DLP rulebreaker?

Pains au chocolat? I can't imagine a more disgusting confection! Niether sweet nor savoury, they are 100% minging!
Which reminds me, every time I prepare to visit DLP, I imagine the amount of pastries and sweets that I am going to consume. I always swear that my first stop will be the bakery on Main Street where I will by a huge bag of crap to munch through. Ironically, when I get there I never fancy much of that stuff. Maybe the constant sweet smells put me off actually eating the things even though the odours are wonderful.
Or maybe its just a case of ' as soon as you can have it, you don't want it'.
Or maybe I'm just wierd.

And you intrigue me with this talk of the benefits of shareholding (specifically free donuts and massive lavvies). I may investigate further...

Re: Are you a DLP rulebreaker?

Don't expect too much of it either, though. It's hardly Valhalla. And they only serve one thing at a time, although cold and hot beverages are yours for the taking. It's also quite small, but very lavishly decorated and full of that Walt stuff fans drool over.

And it tends to be a bit like a waiting room where everyone sits two feet apart but no one talks to each other. So bring a friend if you hate awkward silences, haha.

Here's a nice little tour: http://www.mouseplanet.com/paris/salon_mickey1.htm

But be sure to check out the champagne-filled bidet and use the 100% silk toilet paper, cut into perfect (measured!) squares and handed to you by an impeccably-dressed attendant!

Re: Are you a DLP rulebreaker?

Ok. So never having any shares I am a complete shareholding novice. Where can I get them and how much are they at the moment?

Well Nathan I'm not a financial adviser yada yada but I got mine via selftrade. Eurodisney shares are not traded on the UK stock market so you have to fine someone who will deal with the French Stockmarket and will hold the shares in your name. Some don't they hold them in their name and just not your "interest" in them. You need an account in your name so you can prove to EuroDisney you own them. Also be aware of those that charge annual fees for your account. I used Selftrade.co.uk after quite a bit of research but that was over a year ago.

Costs will vary as there will be transactions fees. You will be trading in Euros so will subject to exchange rates and the share price varies a little but.... when I got mine, shares where 11 euro cents a share and 2001 shares cost me £165. They are now 8 cents a share so expect to pay less. It is worth getting more than 2000 as you then don't have to pay an admin fee to EuroDisney to join the shareholders club.

I've saved far more than they in discounts so the fact the shareprice is poor does not worry me. Plus you get invites to special events like the preview of Crush's Coaster. Although it was just a preview of how unreliable it will be :-)

PM me if I can be of any more help.

I've not visited Salon Mickey yet even though I've been several times since I got my shares. I feel a bit of a fraud given my not so huge investment. Some poor folks paid 5 euros a share! Now I know Puss uses it I will make an effort. Plus I hear they have trained swans playing in a string quarteet playing Disney hits from the ages.
