WDS - What a View

Forget the fact it's a faux set, forget how you feel about WDS, forget your gripes about quick fixes and clones, cos you've gotta admit...

That's a great view!

Re: WDS - What a View

Not sure I understand exactly what your getting at here with that picture. If your trying to prove how beautiful the Studios is I think you could of picked some better pics. Or if your trying to point out that all that construction looks fantastic and that your optimistic about the Studios future.

Re: WDS - What a View

To be honest, I don't think it looks all that great. Maybe it's because of all the scaffolding, but some buildings look very cardboard-like and two-dimensional (which I know they are).

Re: WDS - What a View

It's an improvement but... there's a long way to go.

(I am quite excited about it all though!)

Re: WDS - What a View

It is surely an improvement and looks a lot better. Now they have to extend it to the Backlot area. The only thing I have to complain about is the Animation Building. If you are walking toward Toon Studios, the blue Animation building is very distracting and instantly ruins the Hollywood Boulevard atmosphere. But I can't wait until the walls come down.

Re: WDS - What a View

Looks only "OK" to me. Compared to what Hollywood Blvd at Disney-MGM used to look like before the Hat, or what Sunset Blvd (same park) looks like...there is a lack ambience and depth. Reminds me more of New York Street (also at Disney-MGM...oops I mean "Disney's Hollywood Studios").

Re: WDS - What a View

And after Hollywood Boulevard street set is finished, a Theatre District placemaking should start on the area surrounding Production Courtyard stage (Cinemagique, Stitch Live).

WDS won't look the same next spring.

Re: WDS - What a View

What do you mean theatre district? Just extremely curious. I simply meant it was a great view down Hollywood Blvd that's all, compared to the previous view!

Re: WDS - What a View

The view you mentioned is phase 1 of placement projects.

And to your original question: I like this view a lot.

Re: WDS - What a View

Sorry, Fizzog, but I can't comment on the photo, because I refuse to look at it! I even closed my eyes as soon as I opened this thread and realised what it was about. I've taken an unusual decision, and decided to stay completely spoiler free as far as the enw Hollywood Boulevard is concerned. After my last trip to DLRP in July, I realised that Toon Studio didn't feel new or exciting, because I'd already seen every last inch of it laid bare in photo reports. So, for once, I'm resisting temptation and not looking at any photos of the placemaking. And the same goes for the gardens surrounding the Tower of Terror!

Re: WDS - What a View

I'm with Nathan on this -- it's an improvement, it's better than it was before. And with some sidewalks and new lamp posts, it could very well be nice. But "great" would have been an actual boulevard.

Re: WDS - What a View

Soundtracker that's a very very good plan...but damn, it's too late for me :-S. Oh well. I meant that view was great btw, looking down Hollywood Blvd emerging form Studio 1. I hope they replace the partners statue with nothing or something less view-blocking. H.Blvd will have maximum impact as guests exit Studio 1 and the view is osmewhat blocked
