first of all happy halloween!!!

right i know there has been many threads on pm but i cant find the answers im looking for.

as some of you know im off to DLP in novemember...my mum is coming with me and she has never been on PM before, she isnt a big ride fan, peter pan is ehr kind of thing. and she is claustrophobic. so....

the bit in the lift at the start, that goes very slowly doesnt it? and from, what i remember it is quite big??

is there any other parts of the ride a scardy cat really wouldnt like? hehe

and is there any bits that go fast, are small spaces.

any help would be great thanks as i think my mum is missing out!!!

I don't recall there being any areas within the ride that could make anyone feel claustrophobic or anything. As long as your Mum doesn't mind being straped into the viechle and of course the dark, you guys should be alright.

My partner's aunt is also clautrophobic, and used to drop all that money at WDW to just wonder around while family members went on rides and so on..making everyone feel disappointed because she would not share in the fun with them. Finally she and I had a word or two.. much to my partner's horror, simply because I felt she didn't need to come over and make everyone miserable and upset because or her silly mental problem. Now she won't talk to me because I had the guts to tell her off, and the rest of the family thank me for getting rid of her, since she no longer comes to Disney with them. I just don't have the patience for people who are affraid of stupid things, like small rooms.

Well my mom is also claustrophobic, but she didn't had any problems in August with any ride. And when we went to PM we had a 45 minute line, so you can imagine how packed the lift was.

A truly staggering (if not particularly surprising) response.

To answer your question, Linz, I can't think of any areas of PM that might cause problems for someone with claustrophobia, although it depends how severe her phobia is. The catacombs are probably the tightest area of the whole thing, and they only last about 30 seconds. There are no fast sections at all to worry about.

Of course, you could always tell her she is "mental" and making you "miserable and upset". After all, it is your theme park, others can't appreciate it half as much as you do, children should be banned, etc, etc.

and in reply to the other bit, people are free to enjoy the park in any way they feel, isnt that what disneyland is about? people having fun?

im not bothered how many rides my mum goes because she loves every minute of being there, ther is 4 of us going, 2 like rides, 2 dont, as long as everyone has fun, im not bothered

The catacombs are the section immediately after the graveyard scene (in which the Phantom, in his top hat is seen digging a grave). It's basically the bit with the singing busts and the dancing skeletons.

Oh, charitable! Some people can't help but show their ignorance and stupidity every time they open their mouths/post a reply.

PM should cause no problems to someone upset by enclosed areas although it may depend on how busy the initial stretching room is - it can get crowded. Scardy cats may find their first trip around the house unsettling but more than likely will re-join the queue immediately.

Nor can I, HeyBaloo. Demeaning the family member of a loved one because of a well catalogued and (in my opinion) understandable phobia is one thing. To boast about it to others raises the bar to a whole new level.
