New additions to Disney Village

Hi

did anyone else hear about rumors that they will add another street to Disney Village? It is supposedly to include a World of Disney store such as in New York, Orlando and Anaheim

Now I know this is not the most trustworthy site in the world, but this is from Wikipedia:

"In 2008, a World of Disney will open at the Disneyland Resort Paris.Plans for a store to open during the Happiest Celebration on Earth fell through as the resort's operators, Euro Disney SCA, decided to keep the expansion of the resort inside the theme parks and on attractions, but they have commissioned a new store as part of the refurbishment of Disney Village"

Does anyone has more info about this supposed addition?

Re: New additions to Disney Village

This is part of the long expected expension of Disney Village that should spread between Gaumont Mutlipex Theater and WDS. Along should come a new entrance to the TGV station and an ESPN thing maybe. They want to do it, they will do it. As for when ? Nobody knows for sure untill the TOT/Stich/15th spring is though.

Re: New additions to Disney Village

You're right, Disney Dutchman. There are firm(ish) plans to expand and improve the Disney Village, including a two storey ESPN Zone nightclub, bar and restaurant, the infamous World Of Disney store, as well as significant changes to the current "street".
The current Disney Store, for example, would become something completely new, the Sports Bar will probably be changed into an Irish pub or Italian restaurant, depending on who you want to believe, and the Rainforest Cafe may even move into the space currently occupied by Hurricane's nightclub, effectively doubling the size of the restaurant.
In fact, some redevelopment work is already going on. Check it out: http://www.disneytheque.com/index.ph...y-Village.html

Re: New additions to Disney Village

I've found this on another forum.

http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/...&t=458&p=54095

It seem Disney Village is at least getting some love and softening with platters.

This link suggests they may be more significant building work starting

Re: New additions to Disney Village

I also read another (perhaps disturbin) rumor that Muppetvision 3d is coming to Disney Studios? Again it's from wikipedia but if the World of Disney one was true, is this one also?

Studio Lots

The 5 themed lands of Walt Disney Studios Park are officially called "Studio Lots". The overlying "story" of the park is that the guest enters the park as a "nobody", but leaves as a world-class movie star "celebrity".

Not at all disturbin. I would welcome Muppetvision to DLP with wide open arms - although I suspect that it is a highly suspect rumour.
As discussed on this forum before, the Muppets are under-used to an embarrassing level at DLP (not even any merchandise!) and this looks likely to remain so with the (extremely sad) systematic lowering of the quality of recent Muppet output. Added to this fact is the fact that Muppetvision is heavily reliant on language and I suspect that DLP are keener to do multi-language shows (either like Lion King or half-and-half like Ani/Cinemagique) than have another HISTA-style headphones situation which never really works well.
My ideal would be to see the Muppets take up residence on Hollywood Blvd, where they seem to fit the best. Meet and Greets or something like the Bunsen/Beaker AA that is seen peddling around the US parks would be great (although another language barrier there).
If language was no barrier, an AA Muppet Show based on the original TV show and something akin to the Country Bear Jamboree would be nice - but as I say, if the Muppets ever make a big appearance at DLP I'll kiss a pig!

Re: New additions to Disney Village

Sadly, I wouldn't expect to see the muppets appearing any time soon. There seem to be plans afoot to remove Muppet Vision 3D from both the Florida and California parks, so building a third one in Paris (where, as you say, language would be a huge problem) isn't likely.
But we're straying from the topic already. Back to the Village, people! In fact I have a question regarding the impending refurb - if it proves to be as extensive as we hope, can we expect to see yet another rebranding of the area? It was originally called Festival Disney and only became Disney Village when the name of the resort as a whole was changed, back in 1994. Would "Downtown Disney" be a better moniker?

My guess is that both "Festival Disney" and "Disney Village" were chosen for their linguistic ambiguity, in the same vein as "Phantom Manor" and all the generic CineAniStudio-names at the WDS. "Downtown Disney" would probably be too Anglo.

I love all these rumours about Disney village. I haven't been in a World of Disney store, so I have no idea what to expect from it

Re: New additions to Disney Village

Good news. I was underwhelmed by Disney Village when I was there in December '07.

It's not much different than what that Disney Store at Disney Village is like.. except for maybe being much bigger and better themed. Same concept presented a bit nicer.
