DLP is a Disney Bargain even for Brits

I thought you might be interested on my recent study spurred on by Kevin Yee's article and some debate on the web that Europeans will keep WDW going. I don't think so. 6 days in DLP on a fairly luxury budget is 103% cheaper to brits than a similar WDW experience. And Disneyland in California is 12% cheaper than WDW. So if you are making plans, you might find this quite interesting:

True, but not worth twice as much IMHO

Paris will have hard times competing with Florida weather. 5 of 6 times DLP has had lousy weather.

And by the way, this spring DLRP hasn't sold as good as last year. But then again, how can you compete against 89% occupancy rate.

True, but is that not more of a sign that people are finding life in general harder. Travel agents are finding soft bookings to all destinations.

The sunshine has a way of making things look nicer, but those humid, bug-infested, hot hot hot Florida summers aren't all that fabulous either.

Let's see - 5 weeks in WDW over the last 16 years, 49 trips to DLP. I have honestly been rained on far more often in WDW than DLP.

But there is this mythology that Florida has great weather. If people were relly interested in great weather, America and Disney, they would go to Disneyland instead. Funny how marketing works.

Re: DLP is a Disney Bargain even for Brits

I've always had nice weather in WDW, but I'm not that frequent visitor there.

Re: DLP is a Disney Bargain even for Brits

I went to DLP for the first time this year and I was so impressed with everything. I am a huge WDW visitor and was not really happy during my last visit last year.

Allot of the attractions from WDW are now in DLP with the Tower and Rock and Roller coaster...I feel DLP might become my top visited Disney destination. WDW needs to up their game if I am to return.

I am so glad to hear that, because on some of the boards, I have been taking such a beating. Thanks for the pick me up.

Oh well, I think you didn't get THAT beaten up - even on disboards where one could smell a flame-thrower.

And, I just noticed that the article was written by you. Haha, blind me.

Good work!

Oh I hadn't noticed either. Excellent work, Dave, well done. Very thorough.

Because of the slack you got on Disboards? Don't let that bother you. At the risk of sounding condescending, hardcore UK WDW fans are a different demographic altogether -- one that won't be persuaded by DLP's much, much better MK or its proximity to the beautiful city of Paris when Florida offers the possibility to return with a bright orange tan. It's a pointless battle.

I agree with you 100%. WDW is the most overrated Disney resort on Earth and the least magical in many ways... Too big for it's own good and rates poorly in many aspects of what a "disney" resort should be like.

However, in regards to being cheaper than DLP for brits.. well, that may be the case, and the quality is higher there in paris, even if the cleanliness and the tacky manners of some euro guests make DLR a bit trying at times for some of us mega Disney fanatics. Brits do not care about the quality in Disney (or lack of) but more about the weather and the cheapness of it all, in regards to being in Paris, which will always be why the brits are single-handedly responsible for filling WDW in between high seasons. Let's face it, in Paris..they will never get to shamelessly strip down like they do in Florida (albeit, they don't get it when we frown at them for doing so... It's sunny and hot but it does not mean it's acceptable to walk around semi-nude and barefoot.) Like my friend from CT said... "we have become the new Mexico for europeans"... so say no more.
