One day, which park?

If you had one day to visit the Disneyland Resort Paris, which park would you go to? Either Disneyland Paris or Walt Disney Studios Park. If picked either park why? what are some rides at disneyland paris compared DLR in california. What are some of the rides @ Walt Disney Studios Park to go on?

Re: One day, which park?

The studio is weak compared to DLP. It's a no-brainer. If you must choose, choose Disneyland. You can, however, buy a one-day parkhopper for about 12 extra euro. Go on the movie ride. Ride Rock'n'Roller Coaster. Ride the flying carpets. Do the tower and cars, and Crush's coaster. If you've never seen a studio tour at MGM or Universal, maybe do that backlot tour. Then go enjoy the better of the two parks, Disneyland Paris.

Does WDS have a movie ride?

If you are a regular visitor to DL, then WDS will offer more new experiences for you. Disneyland has a few DLP exclusives and many of the rides are slightly different from their American counterparts.
As my esteemed colleague said - no simple answer, try a park hopper.

I would say DLP, just to see the differences in the park's styling in comparison to Disneyland. Phantom Manor is a must when visiting the Paris resort.

Re: One day, which park?

I'd also go to the main park. There's so much more to do and the attention to detail is second to none (well maybe TDS!). It really is beautiful and most of the rides are better than their American counterparts. Especially BTM and Phantom Manor (the French language makes this ride scarier!)

As already suggested, it it possible to do both in one day. Especially if you visit on a weekday during the low season.

Re: One day, which park?

To put it bluntly -- for a Californian theme park veteran, the reason to come to DLRP is the Disneyland Park. At the WDS, you won't see a new Tower of Terror, you'll feel embarrassed for the tram tour and even the Art of Animation attraction is far inferior to the one you're used to. You probably won't like Disney Village, either.

But you'll love the Disneyland Park because unlike the the other Disneyland clones, it's actually a whole new take on the park, and a pretty good one, too. Check the archives of this board for about a thousand reasons to see it.

Although you could just check out the WDS for the heck of it and an extra €12, in which case Cinemagique is a must.

Re: One day, which park?

When are the peak seasons for DLPR? During peak season, does it get very busy? Is it possible to do everything in both parks for a two day park hopper?

Re: One day, which park?

High season is almost all of July and August. With a military-style plan of action and plenty of energy you may be able to get around most of both parks in both days (high season = longer opening hours). However, I would recommend spending less time rushing around getting on all of the rides and more time enjoying what many believe is the best themed Disney park in the world (except TDL obviously!)

Re: One day, which park?

I recently had one day at DLP and we got park hoppers and visited both. We didn't see everything and the opening hours (10am-7pm) were really too short, but I think it's doable if you're not concerned with seeing everything. We didn't exactly rush around and still got to see almost everything we wanted. If I had to choose one, then DLP was be it... but I do think WDS is worth at least a short visit.

One thing I will say is that I don't get this cult of Phantom Manor. Maybe it was originally an amazing new take on the ride, but I found it a little embarrassing. The movement of the figures was stiff, the effects weren't particularly good and overall it seemed in terrible shape. The DL version seems a million times fresher despite being almost 30 years older. This one almost seemed like a cheap rip-off of a Disney attraction.

Re: One day, which park?

PM is in desperate need of a refurb and is indeed embarrassing (or at least it was last year when I last rode it).

That's unfortunate. I hope it gets a refurb soon, so that it lives up to its namesake and its original status.

I was there a little over a month ago, so unless something has happened since then it's still in bad shape.

Re: One day, which park?

I always felt that Phantom Manor was just a different take on the original concept. Not necessarily better, but just a refreshingly unique experience.

Re: One day, which park?

Apparently, it just got a short refurb. They replaced the stretching room scrim (hopefully the effect will be clearer now -- I'm sure most people never even notice what hangs above it), some lighting was changed, the face projections were tweaked. But that's about it. It needs a thorough refurb indeed, and if you ask me, a bunch of revisions. Then again, with Alice's Curious Labyrinth and the Treehouse slowly disintegrating across the way...

I love PM, but I too have never really gotten the way people swoon over it to the point of building entire fan site communities (remember Arooo?). To me, DLP's Pirates is far more deserving of all that love (for the queue alone).
The manor, the music and the atmosphere are perfect, but then there are elements such as that final scene where you enter that cardboard cutout of the manor, which just seems like something from a carnival ride. It has the potential to be great, but it's not there yet.
