Re: Fact or Fiction - Disneyland Urban-esque Legends

I believe that the Brigham Young story is untrue, as this was brought up in another thread.

    /trying to find thread

Edit: had to correct myself there...

    for real real?

the celebrities are in the costumes?
because it would make sence since the monsters are in the exact same places as the celebs

Hmmm...How should I phrase this? hbwriter was posting Disney "urban legends" which, by definition, are legends that are, in fact, false.

Doubt it, since Walt smokes and it's against Mormon doctrine to smoke. They wouldn't kick him out of the church for smoking, but if he were he probably wouldn't have smoked at all.

The Brigham Young rumor is false because its believed that his casket was actually carried to the gravesite by pallbearers. No hearse required.
I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

Re: Fact or Fiction - Disneyland Urban-esque Legends

Snopes has a whole section on Disney that I've read in it's entirety. They put at the bottom when a page was last updated, and they cite their sources. They got quite a few common ones on DL in there (including the Brigham Young one).

    LINK

However, a fellow Disney fan has implied to me that they are full of it and unreliable (however, this guy is crazy and I hate him, so I don't exactly consider HIM a reliable source either).

If anyone here can speak to whether Snopes' Disney pages are good sources or not, I'd love to hear it. If you've got a common rumor and sources to prove or disprove it, I bet they'd add it to the site.

I do think Walt should have asked that his skeleton be put in Pirates Of The Caribbean.
When I go to Disneyland, I tune my FRS Radio to channel 2, without a quiet code. They're faster than a cell phone and you can talk to a whole group at a time, and you don't have to get everyone's cell phone number in advance.

correct me if i'm wrong on this one:
when the POTC ride was first opened, the skull above the bed with the pink quilt is an ACTUAL HUMAN SKULL. it's hanging above the bed, not on the actual headboard. its a wierd darker color with grey hair. i read somewhere(hiddenmickeys.org?) that someone gave the skull to walt as a gift.
nothing quite says "happy birthday" like a human skull!HAHA

^Don't know about the gift part. That legend hasn't been proved incorrect.

Also, Walt was definitely not Mormon..his father was Protestant, wasn't he? And I don't think Walt really went to church a lot...he of course had a priest and rabbi at opening day, but I don't think there were any mormons.

The person that told me this told me in conjuction with that being the reason there is no alcohol served in DL. He got very upset when I told him they do serve in CLub 33 and all over DCA.

Re: Fact or Fiction - Disneyland Urban-esque Legends

With any legendary tale, you have to consider the line of sources. Like other urban legends, the Disneyland legends date a little ways back and have been edited to fit the format of the story. I know of a few you may find interesting:

    - The Castle Walk-Through is haunted. I am not sure what the story is behind the ghosts, I know I knew at one point, may have even posted on it? Either way, the last person to see the spirits was a disgruntled janitor and he was scared off the property, only coming back to return his uniform and other company property as he quit the very next day.

    - There is a story about a Phantom Keel Boat that prowls the Rivers of America right after closing time. I have actually been fortunate enough to bare witness to this one.

    - Club33 H2O. If you don't know about this, then you aren't supposed to.

    - There used to be an arcade game in Critter Country that portrayed a realistic old west gun fight. You stood at one end with a holstered 6-shooter and the cowboy was behind a set of saloon doors. He would say, "When I say draw, ye draw...DRAW!" Anyhow, a friend of mine was playing this game back in the mid to late 90's when the character spoke out of its usual presets. The doors opened and the cowboy was nude minus a cowboy hat to cover his nether region and he said, "Looks like you brought a knife to a gun fight!" That was a tough one to believe, but this friend of mine is a man of the church, I wouldn't expect anything less than the whole-hearted truth.
