    Summer Fun Pass Upgrade Question

My parents have SoCal APs. They want to take my brother and his wife to DL for a couple days (I will be going too, of course ). We think the best option is to get Summer Fun Passes for them, and possibly upgrading my brother and SIL to APs (not sure which level yet). We know this much is possible.

Where my parents really come in, is their passes are blocked out for when we're planning the trip. And they don't just want to get blockout day tickets. Their renewal letter came in the mail not too long ago, and we were wondering this: Could the cost of the Summer Fun Pass be applied to renewing their APs? They would rather do this than wait in line for the blockout day passes, a couple days in a row. This way they get 3 days at a better price, plus being able to renew their APs then.

Does this make sense? And is it possible?

Wouldn't it be easier just to renew your parents' AP's and not even bother with getting them Summer Fun Passes?

NO, you cannot use ANY ParkHopper for renewal towards an AP.

Only a NEW AP, but for many folks, that works. As the rules is once your old AP expires, you will be getting a new AP.

But you would have to wait until the prior AP expires to make your plan work.

If it can't be used towards the renewal price then blockout tickets are $35 x 3 = $105, more than the $99 for the 3-day pass by a couple of bucks, but you'd save more from the AP renewal discount than getting a new one.

    Blockout tickets are $40.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

Re: Summer Fun Pass Upgrade Question

Damn it went up again?:P Heh. I haven't had to buy one since it was $25 all of... 2 years ago? Well that makes the 3 day total $120. about $30 more than a 3-day pass. The discount for upgrading your AP is only like $20 on the cheaper APs isn't it? So in this case it'd be better to get the 3-day pass and just get a new AP if you're going on 3 blockout days.

Re: Summer Fun Pass Upgrade Question

If these three days they'll be going are all before their APs expire, upgrading to deluxe is their most economical option, especially if they have parking.
    Upgrading socal to deluxe = $90 ($169 -> $259)
    Fun pass = $99
    Three blockout tickets = $120

Re: Summer Fun Pass Upgrade Question

Aren't all saturdays blocked out for deluxe passes this month and next? That would only work if their very first day there was a saturday because they could buy 1 blockout and apply that for the upgrade/renewal.

Re: Summer Fun Pass Upgrade Question

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure, so I knew who might.

Their passes are blocked out until late August, and we may be going before that. Hence the desire to just get the Summer Fun Pass- no need to wait at the ticket booths for blockout tickets, etc. But, oh well.

Again, thank you for the info, guys!
