I agree. I think that if the were to bring it back, they should use the linear induction motors like WDW uses. It is much smoother acceleration and braking-- not to mention it is basically silent.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

uh, this might sound stupid, but i never got to ride PM2.0 was it like a roller coaster, because i saw some tracks curving and stuff, or did it go really fast?

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

check out www.yesterland.com - lots of good info on the old peoplemover and the rocket rods, which occupied the tracks for a brief period in the 90's.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

Riding the monorail from Downtown Disney to tomorrowland it is sad to see the track. There are some serious tree branches weaving in and out of the track. It actually made me mad.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

From a purely speculative point, is it possible that this whole thing comes back to (brace yourselves kids) the sub lagoon? Follow my train of thought here, and tell me if you think this makes sense: We all know the subs are being worked on, and as part of that, there are plans to remodel the monorail station to accomodate the new Finding Nemo cue and new monorail fleet. Now, is it possible that whatever changes are being made to the sub cue and monorail platform will also have enough of an effect on the adjacent people mover track that they will need to do work on it as well? From a cost savings standpoint, seems like it would make sense to take care of all of that at the same time. Any takers on that theory?

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

You have a thought there i know they are remodeling the station and are slowly get new monorails and the subs are getting put back in. As for the monorail and peoplemover track i don't think they are actually going to touch them just the station. They should also get ris of the skirts under the monorail track when they get the new trainsbecause it onl ruins the look of the track. The first new train is going to be yellow and it is going to have a new window design and a more dramatic paint scheme

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

We were casually talking to a Monorail CM about a week ago, and I mentioned how great it was that the Subs were coming back. He agreed, and mentioned that he was applying to become a Sub Operator. Then I said how nice it would be if something was going to be done with the PM track. He said the current "plan" was in the 2008-2010 time frame - after the Nemo and Monorail updates. Of course, plans can always change (so don't take this for Gospel until the signs go up and the work has begun) - but apparently there are definate plans in the works. We all shall see...

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

Jeannette(who is an imagineer) said that she never heard anything of bring the PM2.0 back. This could open to new possiblities to the old track!(at first i thought the track was for Space Mountain) and i also remember seeing Disney 411(or the news idont remember) about May 4th. It showed the track and something was on it. They were white cars and they went pretty fast!(but the clip was only for like 2 seconds)

Oh goodie .. more thrill rides that would leave many people out!

I hope that is only a thought .. that WILL remain only "a thought." And nothing more.
