Why are you travelling down the middle of the entranceway only to turn right back around. The platform not only gives a great view but also gives a sense of returning.
They wouldn't need to do a huge queue at all.

Even in Peoplemover's best days ... it was still a walk on with it's massive capacity. 4,880 per hour. Compare that to Pirates of the Caribbean at roughly half that figure.

At the entrance .. right where the speed ramp began ... there was just a little tiny switch back. It was nothing. Looked good then ... the same set-up would look just as good by today's standards.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

I don't even recall TTA having anything but the speedramp and the small queue up top. I had to wait in the rain!

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

2007 is the year that a new ride is stromgly rumored to utilize the PeopleMover track. At this point, anything could happen, We might get an updated PM, or perhaps Star Wars racing cradt or cycles, or possibly even even some kind of a coaster. Whatever we end up with, the vehicles are sure to travel thru Tomorrowlamd buildings as well as over the Autopia and Sub lagoon areas. How utterly cool it would be if it travelled thru the Matterhorn too.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

Also with the Extinct Attractions DVD, it looks like the track in Starcade is not flat. In that section you're going uphill to get from 10 ft above the Star Traders salesfloor up into the upper part Space Mountain (look at how the the track is when it leaves the mountain). The incline is not ver steep (or else the cars couldn't make the climb), but it's not level and it would make getting on and off difficult for someone who has to transfer in and out of a wheelchair. The lawyers aren't going to risk breaking ADA laws if the grandfather clause doesn't apply (like with the subs).

The platform is the only practical place to put in the loading/unloading section without having to make any alterations to the track.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

Yeah, if you look in the Starcade (you should be able to see this from the queue), there are a few rectangular windows next to each other, each one higher than the other. That's where the track is, but they covered up the windows, probably when Rocket Rods opened, or when the upper level of Starcade closed. If they don't do anything with the Starcade before a new attraction opens, it'd be useless to uncover the windows. I still think a SuperSpeed Tunnel-style "launch" into the mountain would be cool for the PeopleMover, with a Rock It Mountain-style thing at night, as if the PeopleMover was taking you to a concert.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

Is there a map of this attraction or pictures of going into the buildings etc. The only one I know of is the one going into or out of Space Mountain. And how long did it take them to take the track that goes right down Tomorrow land down?

You can check for satelite photos and stuff (though the track is hard to spot in some places). From the platform where that Observatron thing is, it went down TL's main entrance and entered Star Tours. You can see the track going through Star Tours and its extended queue. If you're in Star Trader, you'll notice blacked out windows. That is more track. It's there that the track curves toward Space Mountain and begins to climb uphill. You see it come out of SM and pass over Redd Rocket's Pizza and enter Innoventions 2nd floor. It comes out the other side and descends toward Autopia. The track is extra high here because it had to get past the Skyway station at the time. You can see the track wind its way around the Autopia track and Monorail pylons before it makes its return toward the Monorail station. The track aligns itsself with the Monorail beamway and realigns again to enter Buzz. The track is not visible from inside Buzz. The track comes out the other side and returns to the platform.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

We need a modern peoplemover! Also, they have to redo a lot of the rooms that the peoplemover goes through, like the city of tomorrow?

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

I beleive it's all intact. That is, the "Rocket Rods" infrastructure. With it's single tubular track which is rusting away in the outside portions.

Re: Peoplemover updates...?

No more PeopleMover this is called TOMORROWLAND, not Yesterland. There is a lot of wasted space in Tomorrowland. First get rid of the old ugly track and put more trees or there no trees in the future. The only track I would keep in the track going from Innoventions to Star Tours building. We need more future rides. Let’s bring Mission Space to DL. Let’s take out the Starcade and put in a nice Theme in Queue Area for Mission Space. Then off around the old Peoplemover track to a new building behind the Pizza Port that’s where the Mission Space ride will be located at. After the ride you end up in the old Innovention building that will hold all the Post ride Flight Simulators and other exhibits for space and future ideas will be. Also put the Astro Orbitor on a nice new platform back in the center of Tomorrowland.
