How will thre new monorails be run?

So, right now we are running Mark V Purple and Mark VII Red. According to Darkbeer, Monrail Blue will come online soon for testing. Alas, thgey will only be running two trains on the track when the capacity is three. Does anyone know/have any ideas on why this is, and will it continue when orange arrives.

Re: How will thre new monorails be run?

As I understand it, the maximum amount of Monorails that will be run, even when all three new Mark VII are up and running fully is 2. There is no real increased volume by running 3 instead of 2 due to the amount of time it takes to load a train.

Also, there would have to be additional training, etc.

The plan is when all 3 are up and running, have 2 out in public service, and the third back in the barn as a back-up in case one of the other 2 go "101"

Not since the days of the old Mark II did Disneyland only have a three train operation - and I can't recall if they ran all three trains at the same time...anybody?

I know they ran the Mark V's in a three-train rotation on the track sometimes. I just don't see the reason why you wouldn't...

They ran three Mark V's all the time back in the 90's. It all kind of ended when DCA was constructed.

The same time that DOSH was created and came onto the scene, overseeing attractions and requiring additional safety precautions....

Of greater interest to me is how they are going to solve the heating issues and running at half capacity.

Re: How will thre new monorails be run?

My only concern is this, I was surfing the web and found another Disneyland fansite where a woman named "light beer" was doing picture updates. I don't know if there are any copyright rules to this, but I just found it odd.

Her pictures were pretty good, but not like DarkBeer's.

Back on topic, do we think the reason for only running two mnorail is due to: Disney always wanting to have a back-up, DOSH saying only 2 on the track, staffing- what?

I think there are elements of both in the decision.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are allowed to run three trains and I see no reason we wont in the future when all three Mark VII trains are delivered.

It makes sense to run three. With lowered capacity, you'd almost need to have three trains on to keep up with the crowd.

Back when I worked there they were able to run three trains without MAPO. Now that that system is in place, there is no reason three can't run at the same time.

    The hold points haven't changed.

So, what are the hold points? I thought there might be one over the old moterboat cruise dock before you are next to the Matterhorn. Is this correct and are there any others.

I'm glad to hear we'll have three-train operation

If I remember correctly (and I was never a pilot), the hold points were at the motorboat cruise area you mentioned and at Kanga in the old parking lot.

Both were a safe distance from the stations, yet the driver could see if there was a train in the way.

Of course now that the Grand Californian is where Kanga used to be, that hold point has no view of the DtD station. However, MAPO addresses that problem by letting the driver know if the next block zone is clear.

I know what MAPO is, but what does it actually stand for?
