Talking Columbus day in Oct or Veterans day in November???

    Hello Everyone!
I am new here and have my first question?

My family and I (6 Adults 1 child) are planning a trip to Disneyland and cannot decide on a date.

    The choices are
    A: Oct 6 - 10 (columbus day weekend)
    and
    B: Nov 10 - 14th (Veterans day weekend)

Please give us your advice on what would be better

    Thanks so much in advance!

I believe almost every public school in the U.S. has a 3-day weekend for Veteran's day, but not all have a day off for Columbus Day. That would affect my decision as 3-day weekends would be sure to be more crowded.

I'd go w/ Columbus Day...it's still pretty warm (and dry) in the parks and less crowded than Veteran's Day weekend. I know most colleges don't get Columbus Day off...

I'd go Columbus day because I know most of the OC doesn't get that day off. I never have!

I don't think very many schools in California have Columbus day off for that matter, public ones at least.

Veteran's Day Weekend is also the kick-off for the Disney Christmas events, including the opening of iaswh plus the snow effect for the fireworks.

Columbus Day should be the less crowded weekend.

Re: Columbus day in Oct or Veterans day in November???

We've done Veteran's Day weekend twice now and both times it's been busy but workable. My son's birthday is on Veteran's Day so he "always gets his birthday" off from school Last year we went Thursday-Sunday Veteran's Day weekend, getting their ON Veteran's Day and it wasn't too bad at all we thought. We managed to do a TON that Thursday and Friday. Saturday was alot busier but we used that day for a bday celebration at Goofy's Kitchen and we spent hours(seriously hours! LOL)letting the kids run around at Redwood Challenge. The best part about Veteran's Day weekend is the Christmas Decorations are all up and the Holiday version of the fireworks are going(MUTANT SNOW!!)To me that's worth the extra bit of crowds.

i usually go on columbus day weekend. Saturday is Always nuts, no matter what weekend you go. It seems to be less crowded in Oct. than in Nov. I have been to both. Just expect the Park to be nuts on Saturday, less nuts on Sunday and better on monday still.

the decorations make november particluarly great.

Basically just go to the park with an expectation of fun and try not to do everything in one day, because it may be very frustrating to do so. what ever you don't get to see one day, see it the next. take it as leisurely as you can and make sure you get naps.

actually this year(scince it the 50th) they're doing things a little diffrently, there are going to be 4 pardes every day(PoD and CFP) and remember will still be showing nightly, but with the traditional snow effect and dreaming of a white chrismas song at the end, but regarding decorationsm i have no idea except that they'll be doing IaSWH and HMH as usual!

The Christmas parade isn't going yet over Veteran's Day weekend, it doesn't start until Tgiving so it will basically be the same as previous years with the exception of different fireworks shows(but still snow) The decorations go up the first week of November.

Arizona schools don't have Columbus day off either...
so I'd go then... Veterans day everyone gets off!

If you can avoid holiday weekends however, do it!
