Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Does it still feature the three good fairies, or is it Pinocchio themed now?

The 55th anniversary of Disneyland is what we're talking about.

Can you state your sources? I'm sorry, but I don't think this will ever happen.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Little update here.. The repaving going on in New Orleans Square is still on schedule. Paving in front of the Haunted Mansion will be from September 2 - 23. The paving in front of the New Orleans Square/Fronteirland Train Station is September 2 - October 16 with the train station closed that entire time.

Also, a possibly new project which I have not heard about before now. Repaving in Tomorrowland in front of Star Tours. Walls will be up September 2 - 21. The entire outdoor section of the queue for Star Tours will be closed with the entrance now on the Plaza Inn side of the the main entrance. They will be redoing the entire walkway on the south side of the People Mover track. Maybe they are getting rid of the ever-breaking bricks? Hopefully not just redoing them. Get ready for major congestion!

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Does anybody in the know have any idea what is going on near the old Skyway building? Behind the walls it appears that they've dug up some of the area -- are they installing more permanent utilities for a more permanent fruit cart for that spot?

Monday in the Parks today is reporting that the area in front of Buzz will be repaved instead:

Quote:
Tuesday, September 2nd has Disneyland starting a re-pavement project in Tomorrowland.

The plan is to work on the north side of the main pathway first, and will require the Buzz Lightyear Fastpass machines to be turned off, and a temporary queue/entrance for the actual attraction, so be prepared to see the walls, and look for alternative paths to get to the attractions you want to see on the East side.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Added an entry for Aladdin's oasis
Aladdin's Oasis theatre
Details: Theatre will go dark following conclusion of Indiana Jones show.
Project Status: Theatre closes September 2.
Open Date: Summer 2009.

And changed the "Star Tours area repaving" to "Tomorrowland Repaving" -
Tomorrowland repaving
Details: Areas in front of Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster will be walled off for repaving. Alternate entrances for attractions will be provided.
Project Status: Begins September 2.
Completion Date: Phase one by September 21.

And updated the Harbour Galley entry:
The Harbour Galley - New menu
Details: Dining location closes to remove McDonald's theming and to receive new menu.
Project Status: To begin September 2.
Open Date: December 19.

This info comes from Darkbeer's 9/1 Monday in the Parks column:
Monday in the Parks 9/1/08 - News, Photos and Tips
End of Summer brings closures and refurb walls
Tuesday, September 2nd has Disneyland starting a re-pavement project in Tomorrowland.

The plan is to work on the north side of the main pathway first, and will require the Buzz Lightyear Fastpass machines to be turned off, and a temporary queue/entrance for the actual attraction, so be prepared to see the walls, and look for alternative paths to get to the attractions you want to see on the East side.

As mentioned here earlier, all three McDonald's locations in the Disneyland Resort will close for good on Tuesday.

The current Refurbishment schedule has the Harbour Gallery reopening on December 19th, just in time for the Peak Christmas season.

Burger Invasion in DCA is listed to reopen in May of 2009, and the Conestoga Fry Wagon date is listed as "N/A".

No word on what food will be served when the locations reopen.

Also don't forget the entertainment cutbacks, with Fantasmic!, Aladdin (the show in DCA) and the Electrical Parade going on hiatus.

The Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Stone Tiger also has its last showing ever today, and the current plans have the theater in Adventureland remaining dark until next Summer.

Not to start up conflict, but the Star Tours side is still listed. So I guess we will see which side they end up doing tomorrow!

Also, I forgot another little note. There will be a wall around where the Christmas tree goes on Main St. Now, this wall may actually be removed before the park opens. But looks like they may be doing some work for the new Christmas tree. Since the giant Mickey pumpkin will be there soon and once it comes down, the tree will go in within a week or 2. So now might be a good time to get some pre-work done for whatever the new tree is going to have. Just all my own speculation there, of course.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

It's September 2 and six things should have started today:

1) Aladdin's Oasis closed.
2) Harbour Galley closed. Are there walls up?
3) French Market closed. Are there walls up?
4) Paving in New Orleans Square, in front of train station. Are there walls up?
5) Conestoga Fries closed.
6) Repaving started in Tomorrowland. Are there walls up?

Anyone have updates and/or photos?

No pics, but I went today and here's a rundown..

1) Aladdins Oasis did not have shows, but the entrance was back to how it was before Indy moved in for the summer. No walls up.

2) Harbour Galley is closed with all menus and anything that had the McDonald's arches gone. No walls, just closed shutters on the windows where you ordered.

3 & 4) French Market is closed and behind scaffolding and tarps.. the entire building! Also, there are walls all the way from the French Market down to where the line for Splash Mountain begins for the repaving there. So basically everything from in front of the Train Station to the circular area with the water fountain all down in front of the Haunted Mansion is behind walls.

5) Conestoga Wagon, aka the McD's fry wagon was closed, but just sitting there. Still had the menu and the golden arches on the top. My guess would be the entire wagon will be hauled away soon.

6) Repaving is going on in Tomorrowland. The walls go from the outdoor queue of Star Tours, across and around the planter under the People Mover beam back on down toards the entrance to Star Traders. So only half of the walkway in front of Buzz is open for about the first section (the most narrow section!) of Tomorrowland.

Also, there is a wall around the spot where the Christmas tree (also the Mickey Pumpkin) goes in Town Square. Perhaps doing some prep work for the new tree this year.

One last note, Small World had water in the flume again today. Looks like they are simply running tests as there was water last week, then it was empty over the weekend, and now water again, but only half-full today.

Ok, that's it for now! Hope this helps the curious for the time being...
