Thanks for the update AaroninCal. Glad to see that IASW is testing and on track for the winter opening. I wouldn't want to be there on a weekend with all the walls up, that's for sure. But glad to see the park is getting some much needed TLC.

Details: The 53-year-old Main Street asphalt will be replaced in a large-scale project that will put parades on hiatus. Main Street Vehicles will also not be operating during this time.
Project Status: To begin Janury 2009
Open Date: Some reports claim that the project will only be a two-week small-scale patch project. Other reports still claim the project will be large-scale complete repaving which will open in March 2009

For those who have not noticed, the original R2-D2 is BACK in the Star Tours queue. They had a cheap armless prop as a stand-in while it was being refurbished for the past few weeks.

Is there a reason they are repaving Main Street? The holes in it are a testiment to the opening day when the lady's high heels got stuck because it was still fresh. I think they should leave it as it is. Personally.

Because of all the uneven patches of asphalt all over the place that are a tripping hazard and the abysmal condition of the horse trolley tracks. It's a safety issue as well as an aesthetic issue. I don't think any of the holes on Main Street are there because of the high heels story, which may or may not be apocryphal.

Gone also will be the holes from the Lion King Celebration parade. The holes have always have the "plunger" in them since the parade ended. But they are from when the performers put those large poles in and them climbed them and did acrobats up on the poles. That was cool..

It sure is! It's supposed to be open for the holiday season. More info can be found here.

I forgot about the plugs in the ground from the Lion King parade. I kept wondering what they were their for and figured it was crowd control for something.
