No argument there. I don't necessarily mind the Astro Orbiter where it is, I just which much rather it moved back on top of the Peoplemover station

You're right, the hub has room for two more spinners.

Weenies were used to pull people in to an area. In its current location, the AO pulls people just to the east side of the hub and then holds them there. There isn't anything to pull people INTO Tomorrowland. The Observatron sort of did this, but 90% of the time it doesn't work and when it is working you can't see it from the hub because AO blocks it.

Having AO up on the PM platform put it very visibly above everything else. It pulled your eye up and drew you deep into the heart of Tomorrowland from where it was easy to visit Autopia, Space Mountain, the Subs, Monorail, etc. It was easily visible from the hub.

In its current location, it also cuts off traffic flows in the TL entrance significantly. The entrance used to be wide and open, now it is narrow on both sides and frequently bottlenecks bringing traffic to a standstill.

On top of this it is quite a huge intrusion into the hub area. No other land has its attractions right there in the hub. Matterhorn is very visible because of its height, but it is still located back behind trees and the castle. FL, FL, AL all keep their attractions behind their entrances. TL has the AO right there practically in the hub.

Our revels now are ended. Why are they called Weenies? Anyone know how that started? Seems kind of odd.

    FIRST HKDL TRIP - 2016?

Walt Disney came up with the name because it would draw people into the land. It gave them a reason to enter the land all the way and explore it from there. As it AO stands, it pulls guests up to Star Tours and BLAB and "drops them off" there. Something more prominent needs to be where the Observatron is to give guests a reason to explore Tomorrowland.

I believe it was mentioned earlier somewhere. I recall seeing it when I was at DL a month or so ago.

Quoted from Designing Disney: Imagineering and the Art of the Show - "Walt observed that people move toward things that are inviting, and he coined the term wienie to refer to such things(Walt had a lifelong love of hot dogs).

I'd also like to point out that it is wienie, not weenie.

I almost thought you would say Walt had a lifelong love of wienie's.

    Please spare my immaturity.

If we were told to "just look at our map" to get from place to place or to know what a land is or what exciting things it has, then it'd just be boring, and Disneyland would be some typical theme park or amusement park. It's not, nothing can come close to Disneyland, it is its own type of place for families to enjoy.

And I'd like to point out that it's Astro Orbitor, with an "o". Astro Orbiter is in WDW. Theirs is still atop the (still used) TTA Station.
