If only they could have a show along the lines of CoP on the bottom floor, & put in something new & spectacular on the second floor.

Back to the subject of Starcade, when I was a kid (in the 80s), the Starcade was two floors. The upstairs was full of fun games like air hockey and what not. My friends and I would always spend at least an hour in there. It's a great fun way to beat the heat and when you're a kid, you're competitive so you have to do something like that. (disney has answered the call with Astro Blasters and Midway Mania to some extent).

I still think the starcade should be kept upstairs and use the bottom floor for Star Traders... expand the Star Tours store merchandise out a bit more. That tiny place needs some extra room.

thats mostly the Disneyland fanbase that want or even remember that show.

Economically for the park its really not worth the trouble to dismantle it and bring it back. The whole show would need major updating since most of the animtronics are not exactly state of the art anymore. with the advancment in technology all new figures would need to be rebuilt and the whole show updated.

A new show would make more sense if that was the direction they would want to take for the building.

Why should Disney cater to non-Disney fans when they've come to a place called Disneyland? I'm sure if Disney put up blackjack and poker tables with Las Vegas showgirls it would also attract a crowd... and still be tacky, trite and unDisney. Dump the Starcade, it's a waste of space and arcades are so 80's anyway; the Starcade eyesore doesn't belong in Tomorrowland.

well Disney should cater to everyone not just Disney geeks. Just because someone is not a Disney geek it does not mean that they do not enjoy a day at a disney park.

I really do not care for the starcade but i am sure it is a an area that takes low maintenance and generates good amount of money.

I think its location is also a reason why it does well. Its between a store, restrooms and a rollercoaster with height and health restrictions.

I think the majority of kids that go in there go in there to take of some time while other family members shop, ride spacemountain or use the restroom facilities

The original Tiki Room (as opposed to the bizarre new WDW version) was one of the reasons we made a special trip to DL last May, even though we had already gone to WDW last December, and Cali is much further away. And those charming birds were one of the most memorable parts of our trip

I think it's time I post a new idea thread for the CoP building and add to my concept for Tomorrowland.

The Starcade has, what, 30 games in it (if that)? For the size of room it's in it looked like a pretty weak waste of space to me. Take out the games and expand Star Traders...WITH ONLY TOMORROWLAND MERCH. IN IT!!!

As for CoP....I'll have to give that some thought, and get back to ya on that one. Watch for a new thread on the subject in the near future.

Regarding BCJ...I'm sure the company here in Utah that does many of Disney's animatronics, Sarcos, would LOVE to update the tech of the bears. I think the reason it was getting low attendance is because it wasn't updated with new tech or new songs and such. When something starts looking "out of date" with old tech, it tends to get....blah. While the show was fun, it did need a re-tooling.

I dont think so. Word is that the ride was cut because Disney doesn't want to spend the money to redo the ride. It's funny that we are in a recession and while Disney wants to halt development of new rides they have no problem spending millions building DVC everywhere. What a load.

Has anyone heard if the music on small world will change? What I mean is, will the "There is just one sun..." line be added back in? I miss hearing it on the ride.
