![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker I'm sure someone who works in one of these areas could describe it better than I, but yes, there is definitely a difference. The marketing department develops overall stratagies for how to promote the business and expand its customer base and make the customers happy. The advertising department is a seperate, obviously closely related department, but it focusses on actually putting out the advertising, developing the ads and making the deals with the media outlets and that type of thing. In the case of Disney, they have advertising at multiple levels in the company, including the resort and corporate levels. They had transfered a lot of the control to the corporate advertising department, but in terms of advertising new small attractions, I am fairly certain that this responcibility is still mostly handled by the each resort's advertising department. So the TDA advertising department is mostly to blame if you havn't seen enough ads about the SB walk-thru. Of course, they'll probably say they don't have the budget for it, so it's not their fault, because that seems to be everyone's excuse if things go wrong. |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker Like just stated advertising is the actual ads and commercials, billboards ad those kind of things. Actual marketing can include product developement, consumer research, coming up with promotions and those types of things. |

That’s a lot of ideas, but DL doesn’t have that much space. I would like them to create a Fantasmic! Coaster and remove Fantasmic form ROA. That would open up the west side on evenings and still provide some of the elements from the show. But, even for just that, where would they put it?

OK then, it’s advertising’s fault. But, for the most part, they are all part of the same package, aiming for the same results. It doesn’t really matter if I used the term marketing or advertising. Everything I have posted earlier goes for either or both if they are responsible for the issues I noted. And, they (all of the various advertising/marketing divisions/departments) throughout the entire Disney Corporation have stuck their noses in and forced their desires on the divisions (parks, Imagineering, cruise line, resorts, etc) they are supposed to be supporting. So, if it's their responsibility, why wouldn’t DL’s advertising department be promoting such a significant reopening?

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker The sleeping Beuaty walkthru was advertised as part of the Holiday package to the media. Several newspapers and other public media did release article in regards to the reviatlized attraction. You will most likely not see it advertised heavily because the attraction is not one that would be capable of a high guest thru-put. Disney did basically the same thing with the opening of Pixie Hollow. The attraction had some media exposure but is not something that is suppose to generate high revenue or attendance increase. |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker Hello! I am new to this site and I was wondering if I could get some clarification...On the project tracker it has a new version of the People Mover listed as a project. Does that mean that this has been confirmed? I really miss this ride, though it was silly and cheesy, and would love to see it brought back! If it is brought back, will they still have the Tron? |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker Miss Alyssa, welcome to MiceChat/MiceAge! I truly know you will enjoy it here. This is one of the best threads around! As to your question, I have heard no set confirmation on this yet. If you look back on the Project Tracker page 1, you will see it says "long-rumored" for the people mover along with no start date or completion date. So, it isn't set in stone yet. I too would love to see it back. As for Tron, I think it is rather outdated and they may try to do an entire theme for the new people mover (if it comes back) to give it the oomph it needs for this generation of people. I know I gave you no set answer, but I hope I helped a little. Again, WELCOME! Last edited by disneyland255; 12-09-2008 at 01:16 PM. Reason: Added information from page 1 of thread |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker To echo disneyland255, if there isn't a set start date, it is most likely purely rumor. This would apply to this thread as well as the DCA Thread. Though things there are in a state of flux still so even confirmed, greenlit projects dates aren't set in stone yet. Welcome to the boards. Hope you enjoy it here. It's a great place!

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker Wow, you are all so sweet and incredibly helpful! I know it said long rumored, but I just wanted to make sure I understood the way it was meant. You know how perspectives can make things seem. Lol. Thank you for such a warm welcome. I may be far away, but I will definitely be around lots! I love Disneyland, and have every since my first visit when I was 8. I am thrilled there is a site for my obsession to run wild!!! Hehe. Well, here's hoping that someday the People Mover will really be brought back. |

As for Tron, there is no way for the Tron speed tunnel to be able to return as the whole second floor of the Carousel building (where the Tron element was located) has been taken over by Innoventions.
