They don't celebrate the attraction's 40th anniversary year after year.

I was going to go to the 40th celebration of HM on September 9, but the packages sold out pretty fast.

The movie was okay, but I feel that it made a joke of the Haunted Mansion. I only liked the subtle ride homages.

It won't, but of course, Eisner was planning exactly that if the movie had done well. Thankfully, it bombed.

If only the POTC movies had bombed. If only.

I was at DL for a bit today and noticed that the Pixie Hollow queue is completely behind walls again. The actual meet and greet is still open, but the queue is down.

Anyone know what's going on? I was surprised given it has just opened.

This is not all that unusual. After being opened for a while, they either noticed some places in the queue that need more work or possibly will redo how the chains are laid out.

While movie tie-ins generally suck, I wish Haunted Mansion would have gotten the Gore Verbinski POTC treatment. I think an era-specific story using the Master Gracey storyline and NO Eddie Murphy would have made for a fantastic movie.

As for no HMH, I don't really think the market of those who want Haunted Mansion to stay "normal" for the 40th is that large. People love that ride, especially considering you can hardly get to Splash Mountain during the holiday months.

Does anyone know any information on a possible Matterhorn refurbishment, or the rumored "new cars." I know it was closed a few years back for refurbishment and inspections, but does anyone have knowledge of a drastic change?

    Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Based on information from Al Lutz' latest update, I've added an entry for the upcoming Rivers of America refurbishment in early 2010, which will put several attractions out of commission.

MiceAge 4/21: Return to Flash Mountain
    Dragon Fly
[ . . . ] the Rivers of America is scheduled to be drained for refurbishment for several months in the winter and spring of 2010, with Fantasmic! returning for the 55th Anniversary summer in June, 2010.

    Major Rivers of America refurbishment
Details: Major Rivers of America refurb, resulting in a hiatus for Fantasmic! and a closed Tom Sawyer Island, Sailing Ship Columbia, and Mark Twain Riverboat
Project Status: Drained and closed during winter and spring 2010.
    Open Date: June 2010
