Actually, I think Techskip, or Bruce Bergman, or... someone, said that the rocks conceal some ugly machinery, like ventilation, that is necessary for the attraction. The rocks were better than the machinery sitting out in the open.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Lol were all right here. The rocks which serve as a decorated and storied entrance to Tommorowland were installed to both cost effectively conceal ride equipment and block sightlines of unrelated theming. Disney's way of hitting three birds with one stone, or, three big ugly rocks.

Exactly what ride equipment is in there, out of curiosity?

And I don't think the do a great job of blocking sightlines either. I've heard more people call them "french fries" than rocks and wonder aloud what they are for and why they are there.

that is probably just a rumor... like the one that said the sub lagoon couldnt be drained because the Matterhorn would sink.

I have never seen any access panles on the rocks... and the tunnle that leads to Pixie Hollow isnt that big

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

Are we sure that the AO rockets are the same color as before?

[Edit] Answered my own question with a little searching. While the nose and tail remain the same, the body of the rockets have been repainted light blue, replacing the old orange.

[Edit] Answered my own question with a little searching. The AO rockets are indeed painted in a brand new color scheme to match everything else:

Yes, the blue does look a little different.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

The rockets look the same, except instead of having that copper color in the middle section, they replaced it with blue. It's amazing how much different (and better) they look with one simple change!

Personally, I am not sure. Earlier however someone was talking about the acess door on one of them. Also, I did clearly state in a past post that they were not good at blocking sightlines, but none the less, thats one reason they are there.

I believe this is the door your referring.

Also if you look around the plants surrounding the rocks you can see some hidden vents or green boxes cover in bushes.
