So much for traveling back to the turn-of-the-century.
It's not any worse than imagining a bank and then having your picture taken on a modern camera, and being given a plastic card. All with an unweildy queue filing out of the building. If will feel no less like a bank than it has for years, to me.

Good points! They need to replace the photographers with the old fashioned kind. Nothing like a sulfur explosion to start your day! And yeah, that AP line should never have been there as outside the park is perfect.

This kind of reminds me of the "Well, Buzz Lightyear is a space-themed toy" arguments for his inclusion in Tomorrowland. Sorry, but it just doesn't fly.
I think the Gallery will be a much better use of the space than the AP Processing Center, personally. Whether or not the bank itself should be gutted, or should remain looking like a bank is debatable. Many people hope to still see the bank elements and would be very disappointed if they were eliminated. Others, like you, would rather they forget the bank existed. That's a valid opinion, but it's a fine line for Disney to straddle. In many ways they have tried to extend a hand to nostalgic fans, and in many other ways they have tried to start anew in many aspects of the park. I cannot personally fault them for going either way. They are making some people happy one way, and others happy the other way. What I am personally happy about is that I can actually enjoy the bank and experience whatever the building may hold (the bank elements in addition to the Gallery), without having to renew my AP. As it stands I'm only in the bank MAYBE once a year, and at no point am I enjoying my surroundings. At least now the Gallery will be an open venue to enjoy at your leisure. AP Processing in the Plaza Pavilion will be much better, in my opinion.

At least art galleries were around in the 19th century...AP Processing centers weren't.

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

I'm fine with the bank still there. Actually I was hoping they would keep the props and stuff.

I love how they can't just get rid of the suite, since nobody is using it. Oh wait, we have a corporate park now.

And yet the article in the magezine NEVER said that the bank was going out of business. All you do is walk into the vault, where rare, expensive, and antique items are kept and this is the location of the Gallery. I'm no history expert, but I'm guessing that banks around the turn-of-the-century held more valuable things than just money. It really gets tiring when everyone here reads a few paragraph article on something and start exploding and complaining about it. If you want to complain about it, fine, but atleast wait until you know completely what teh final product will be like!

What you didn't like the last time they used the "takeover" idea?

What, did the bank decide ooen the vault and make an art show out of all the valuable art their clients have trusted them to keep safe? Come on.

"Taken over" doesn't necesariyl mean that the Bank wne tout of business, to me atleast. A business or restaurant may be "taken over" and be under new managment, but it doesnt mean its no the same place.

Maybe a wealthy person who keeps their valuables in the vault decided to sell them so the bank is holding an art show. It really is that far fetched in my honest opinion. But really, I think we should wait and see what the final product is like before we get into it too much.

We have to, Walt once did, and so did the Disney legends. They made sure everything was cohesive to any show, be it ride, shop, or land. Heck, there was a fight on what side of the dirty foot pirate the parrot should be on. The unimaginative whizz kids of today can't do this because its not in their corporate synergy hungry capacity. Excluding the select out spoken few.

ps. I read through this and thought it was a bit intense, but still it's our job. =)

Re: Disneyland Project Tracker

It's a good thing they don't have a stroller and wheelchair rental "shop", a shop that sells cameras and souvenirs or a castle that faces our 1900's main street anywhere because that would be WAY out of theme... I mean I don't recall anyone being able to buy a Kodak camera, rent a stroller and see a castle from a 1900's main street. I understand wanting to keep additions and changes to the park in theme as that is what makes Disneyland great, but come on now some of these arguments just get ridiculous. I think they can do whatever they need to as long as they try to stick to the general theme of the area... it would be impossible to have anything 100% in theme to the 1900's if we really wanted to get nit-picky. I like the idea of trying to preserve the history of having the bank on main street, while still trying to incorporate the gallery which needs a new home. If that means the bank is hosting an art gallery then I have no problem with that.

I guess I am trying to say I understand the theming argument, but really there is something in EVERY part of Disneyland that is out of theme, period. I see it as a more important point that they try to incorporate the modern aspects of running a theme park (and a business) into the existing themes while still trying to preserve some of it's history. Nothing will ever be 100% truly in theme so why rip out the history of the bank just so the gallery can be it's own branch new entity?

Far fetched is not relatable and does lend itself to a good show.
