The basic infrastructure of Tom Sawyer Island remains intact, and references to Tom are still there, but Pirates have invaded making little sense to the overall theme, much like the art gallery in the bank.

A gallery in a bank is a significant departure if you actually consider the temporal setting of Main Street USA. Again, why would this booming town's primary bank be out of business and now be leased out by an art gallery? It might make sense for a lot of present-day towns' downtown districts, but Main Street USA is NOT set in the present day, it's still set in the turn-of-the-century.

Just because the area has other instances of exposed metal doesn't mean it needs to continue. Other design solutions could have been created to work with the area while making it look better.

Obviously I'm being factual when I say you systematically don't like anything new in Disney parks. Your reasons are inconsequential to this point. Nobody is saying that you can't state your opinion or that you are wrong to have it, but you very obviously have an agenda. Your pendulum has obviously swung so far in one direction that you are no longer capable of seeing any positivity AT DISNEYLAND. You cannot deny this, at least based on the things you say on this board.

Let me ruin the surprise for you: you will not like The Little Mermaid. You will not like World of Color. You will not like Carsland. Disney is not going to make you happy anymore. Apparently you handle the Project Trackers just to keep yourself updated on disappointment.

You claim you just want to discuss things, but your heavy-handedness and one-track mind make you hard to take seriously. Your opinion is known before you even state it. Being critical is one thing, but you are at super-villain levels of negativity at this point.

Stalker tendencies aside, I don't think you know the whole reasoning behind MasterGracey's thinking. You're just grouping the assumptions together without fully understanding them.

You read that he doesn't like it but do you known why? MG has always expressed his opinions and given reasons. he never flat out said "Toy Story Midway Mania sucked". He said that it had problems (it does) but also says that it's more 'Disney' than Paradise Pier has attempted since its opening.



You are going into serious tangent territory without adding anything worth while to the discussion. Please stay on track to DISNEYLAND tracking please.

As you claim that I systematically dislike anything Disney does, you have systematically ignored any praise that I've given Disney in recent times.

Here are a couple examples...
From my 6/8 Dateline Disneyland column that runs on Mondays here on MiceChat:

The new color scheme can now fully be seen, and in person it works. While it would have been nice to get rid of or move the Astro Orbitor and the crowd-unfriendly rocks, the new colors tie together the Tomorrowland color scheme, and the finished product looks pretty good.

We recently reported on the long-damaged Monorail awning and showed you the first steps towards replacing it. A sleek and shiny new metal awning has taken the place of the old bulky one, and it looks pretty good

The new flying Dumbo puppet is really impressive. As the show title promises, Dumbo's moment is pretty magical.

he show is all-in-all pretty solid. Dumbo's appearance seals the deal, and the new lights are a nice touch. Of course, it's hard to follow up a show like "Remember... Dreams Come True," which is arguably Disney's best fireworks show ever, but Magical does a pretty good job of filling the spot. The music is great with strong vocals from Broadway's Edin Espinosa, the show has great pacing, and the fireworks are as big and bright as ever.

I recently praised the minor plussing of the San Francisco Street facades in the DCA Tracker:

That's plussing an area. It's a small plus, but it looks good.

In my 4/13 Dateline Disneyland column, I talked about the Games of the Boardwalk:

The games are certainly nicely themed, and look far better than their predecessors. The facades are gorgeous, and the games themselves are charming and colorful, harkening back to classic Disney films like Dumbo and recent favorites like Toy Story.

In my 2/02 Dateline Disneyland column, I praised the new "it's a small world" facade lighting:

The new lighting is really spectacular and a great enhancement.

...And there's more if you want to look for it. If there seems like there's more dissenting criticism from my end, that's not because I have an agenda to hate everything Disney does. It's because they just aren't making creative decisions that I think are appropriate.

Good question. Those restrooms have been shut down for quite some time now. Either they're working on the restrooms or it's all part of the new gallery expansion. Are we losing restrooms perhaps?

I've wondered the same thing.

It could just be a restroom refurbishment... but those restrooms also take up their fair share of the bank building. I wouldn't be surprised if they're removed. It would be a bold move, because those are the first restrooms inside the park gates, and they always seem busy.

Well, there are still the bathrooms next to City Hall and behind Carnation Cafe. So, it's not like they'd be losing the only bathrooms on Main Street, thank goodness.

While that's true, all those Main Street restrooms are pretty small and can get pretty crowded.

Of course there's restrooms near the lockers too but I don't think people remember to use those or because they're out of the way.
