![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker The WDW Contemporary Hotel redid its entire grounds (even on the old hotel side) as part of the addition of the new DVC wing. Maybe a completely fresh landscaping for the DL Hotel’s grounds will be in order. I would imagine they would not do this until 2012 once all the exterior work is complete.

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker I've got some sad news for a Main Street icon. I've received information that the Main Street Magic Shop will close at the end of June until at least the end of summer due to the loss of the magic souvenirs vendor. The shop will remain closed until the end of summer or until a new merchandise vendor is found. Of course, this information is subject to change, and may be incomplete. I'm trying to find out more information on this... We'll see how it unfolds... Main Street Magic Shop - Temporary closureDetails: The Main Street Magic Shop will temporarily close and be without magic tricks and gifts while Disneyland finds a replacement vendor. EDIT/UPDATE: Okay, to clarify, Disney is seeking out options to keep the magic shop open, fully stocked with magic tricks, gag gifts, etc. The problem is that the supplier that Disney buys from is no longer supplying what Disney needs, and a new supplier is being sought. From what I'm hearing, its an issue with having to find this sort of stuff from an outside supplier in a world in which these types of novelties aren't hugely accessible anymore. The plan is, from what I'm being told, to close the store completely while Disney seeks a new supplier. The hope is that one can be found ASAP. We'll see what happens... ![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker ^That is sad to hear. It truly was a unique shop on MS. I haven't bought anything there in many years, and after a while, when i knew how to do some tricks, i would just go in to see how well they were performed. Everything was always awesome. From a souvenir purchasing standpoint, personally this doesn't affect me too much. But i would HATE to see it go for ever.

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker It isn't going away forever. According to what we know so far, it will only be closed until another magic vendor fills the space. This could be viewed as a good thing. I haven't bought anything in the magic shop for years either. Maybe when it reopens it will have a more compelling selection of tricks and pranks to choose from. However, in the meantime, a closed shop on Main Street is never a desirable thing, from a profit standpoint of course but also simply because this quaint turn-of-the-century town should always be bustling, open for business, and appear as though it is immune to bankruptcy and real-world supplier woes. Here's hoping a new vendor is found and brought in as soon as possible. Last edited by 2DieFR; 06-20-2009 at 02:01 AM. Reason: added last thought |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker There's a nice magic shop in Old Town Temecula and it's fully stocked about three times the size of the Main St. Magic Shop. Just ask the owner where he gets his supplies from. For kids, Melissa & Doug make a whole series of good quality magic kits that would be perfect for DL kids. Sheesh... I can't believe it's that hard to find magic supplies... |

Doesn't the WestSide of DTD in WDW have a magic shop Magic Masters? Surprised they can't find a deal with them.

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker its really sad to hear that the fate of The Magic Shop is in question. It is the only 100% specialized themed shop on all of Main Street. Lets hope when it reopens it still has unique merchandise. Why can't all the shops on Main Street be specialized again? (i.e. why does New Century Music have non music books and dvd's? shouldn't it be all cds and sheet music?)

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker They can't find magic supplies? I thought the whole park ran off magic? ![]() At least they're trying to find a supplier, it's not like "oh well, let's just fill it in with the generic Disney stuff". ...At least at this point....

They should still keep the shop open and just have the CM giving little personal up-close magic demonstrations. They don't have to be selling something ALL THE TIME. | |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker When was the last time you saw a music store that only sold music? Granted, that's a modern phenomenon, but still. A turn of the century music shop wouldn't be selling CDs anyway. |

![]() | Re: Disneyland Project Tracker Houdini's magic shops are great. They have a great mix of simple and self-working tricks along with items that magic hobbyiests would be interested in. When I was a kid, the Main Street Magic Shop and Merlin's Magic Shop in Fantasyland were more like Houdini's. I hope they make the appropriate connections.
