Hey folks, heres what I've been up to the last few days, a model (yes another model from me, what a surprise) of the Casey Jr. Circus Train.
When I was younger, whenever there was a trip to Disneyland, I always just had to have a ride on my favorite attraction at the time. I was obsessed with it. I would occasionally have a ride on the "big train" (Disneyland Railroad), though Casey was the ride for the day. As I got older, I made a cardboard model of the train, it was rather crude compared to todays standards, but it was satisfactory for being 12. For the next 6 years, my attention would shift to the more realistic Disneyland Railroad, which would claim the title "favorite attraction (it still is).
Just a few weeks ago, I was looking at my cardboard model (I still have it) and I thought it would it would be neat to do it again but in much better detail and accuracy. This time it would actually run. I set to work building the train with a concentrated look at the details. They would be styrene structures on top of old HO wheel sets. The filigree and animals on the cars would be sculpted out of sculpey and then painted with colors mixed accurately to the prototype. (The time that it took to make the train can be determined by the time of the movies which were listened to in the process of construction; All three Austin Powers movies, all three of those again but with commentary, all three Indy movies, Simpsons movie with and without commentary, Robots with and without commentary, a couple hours of the Olympics, and POTC 3. Thats how long it took!)
Here it is:
Casey Jr., the powered Calliope, and the passenger chariot (which still needs the new doors that made news a few days ago.
The scale of the train is Gn15 (G scale train on HO track). This is not to be confused with the Accucraft Casey Jr. that was released by Disney a few years ago, that was much bigger than what is here (even though that was called "G scale".)
The cages. There aren't as many bars one would think on those cars until you build a model of them!
The blue passenger chariot with the caboose. The caboose's railing was so intricate that I had to simplify it a bit when scaled down to a model that can fit in the palm of your hand.
The entire train.
Now a video of the train in action.

Although it is a cartoon train and is not considered a "real railroad" by the common railroad fan, but for a Disney fan and a train head, it's just enough to put a smile on my face.
