Would you be okay with current Tomorrowland plus subs?

If there never is a new Peoplemover, and assuming the new subs and redone monorails are completed, would you happy with Tomorrowland's current state? I noticed since the new paint, Buzz and Space, nobody complains anymore.

Hmmm, you're right. No one has comlained about Tomorrowland in a long while. I guess we shouldn't jynx it. I don't know if I'd be ok. Everytime I go to Tomorrowland, I always manage to look up at the empty PeopleMover/Rocket Rods track and always think of those two former attractions. I guess, for me to instantly stop looking up everytime I enter the land, an attraction has to be put up there.

Now, if we could just get people to stop complaining about California Adventure. Hmm, we'll have to think about that one.

DCA is a bigger problem right now. But hey, it's nothing that time and money can't heal.

Don't misinterpret the lack of noise for satisfaction. After so many years of depression over the vandalism of Tomorrowland, we're all finally feeling better about the new direction the land is now taking. Believe me... we're all expecting a whole lot more progress, but as long as it continues we'll shut up. If the progress stops... invest in ear plugs.

Re: Would you be okay with current Tomorrowland plus subs?

I wont be satisfied untill these things happen:

    1. Subs Return
    2. Tomorrowland Terrace comes back IE drop Club Buzz
    3. Some kind of attraction on top of the peoplemover track.
    4. Updated Star Tours
    5. Cosmic Waves gets replaced with something.
    6. Innoventions gets replaced with an attraction hopefully ATIS 2.
    7. Starcade upper floor gets filled with something or an attraction.
    8. Relocation of Rocket Jets to upper platform.
    9. Rocks at the entrance are removed.
    10. New Tomorrowland symbol and the one at the entrance. They should make a similar one to the first symbol they used to have.
    11. Autopia gets a more futuristic design and they get rid of that sucky sponsor Chevron.
    12. HISTA gets replaced.

Tomorrowland has never been my favorite land, but I've never hated it or have been sad about it. I am excited about riding Space Mtn and Buzz!! Sadly, the older I get the worse my motion sickness gets, but I must ride the Mtn! I will prevail!

I do believe Walt once said that Disneyland would never be "completed" per se; as long as there is imagination in the world, the park would continue to grow. So any cessation on the progress of ANY land should be cause to make some noise, IMO.

Tomorrowland-wise, though, I especially would be disappointed to hear that they stopped working on it, because there's room for so much more, and they're selling themselves short.

(I know I'm new and all, but I've noticed the disheartening state of my favorite land, and it makes ME complain, just not usually on the public level).

Re: Would you be okay with current Tomorrowland plus subs?

There are still so many more updates and attractions that are needed to bring it anywhere near the the status it had in the 70's and 80's. I am glad TL appears to have hit rock bottom and is on the upswing now. But don't forget the long long road of neglect and abuse this land suffered through. It really couldn't have gotten any worse.

    STILL NEEDED for TL :

Subs - coming, but not for a couple years

    Peoplemover replacement of some sort

Something worthy to replace Carousel of Progress and America Sings

Astro Orbitor to the old rocket jet location

New Monorail fleet is desperately needed

Updated revamped version of Star Tours

Replacement for the old Skyway, (several levels are integral to TL and Skyway was the highest)

Updated 3D movie for Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

A new attraction in the old Mission to Mars building

    Something futuristic for Autopia

As Soon as those things are accomplished, THEN ask the question again.
It will take decades to fix TL for the one decade of abuse and neglect.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. This sums it up and if Tomorrowland fixed all the things listed, then, and only then would I be satisfied. Except I would like to add that they need a new monorail fleet. Not an all-new fleet, just a replacement fleet with the same exact look and new parts.

Re: Would you be okay with current Tomorrowland plus subs?

Nobody has complained about Tomorrowland lately, not because it is "done" - but becuase they are working on it and rumored to be fixing more... we are polite and grateful.

If they do not proceed, we will start complaining again. And loudly. TL needs to be completely restored - - No joke there! It's the most important issue at Disneyland today...

Aside from the Submarine Voyage and Monorail fleet, already in progress, here are a few requirements:

    1) Rockets back up on the platform in the center of TL - - Observatron begone! A MUST.

    2) PeopleMover replacement on the track through TL. I like the Incredibles pods idea. A MUST.

    3) Removal of Wet marble. A MUST.

    4) Removal of creepy moon rocks and Astro-Orbitor at entrance to TL. A MUST.

    5) Restoration of the Tomorrowland Terrace and Stage (and stage top). A MUST.

    6) Conversion of Radio Disney booth into functional snack bar or other.

    7) Fix Innoventions, bring back Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress from WDW or do something new in there... How about the Little Green Men version of Flying Saucers?

    8) Get rid of Honey I Shrunk the Kids and replace with something else - or return to Space Stage Pavillion.

    9) Bring back Adventure Thru Inner Space (in Pizza Port and/or Honey?).

    10) Bring back Skyway.

    11) More paint - go back to mod white, blue, black

    12) Restore Mary Blair murals or add Jumbotron video murals! (Current ones are an improvement, but tacky).

    13) Open up walkway by removing Star Tours fastpass

    14) Revive the tech in Star Tours (digital projection, etc.)

    15) Do something about "backside of TL/former Goth Alley"

    16) Why not bring back the House of the Future too?

    17) How about a spacy video canopy like Downtown Vegas?

People actually love Disneyland and need more attractions opened or revived to handle the ever-expanding crowds - - new little things DCA is a waste of good money, unless they plan on some REAL layout and theme redesign.

Re: Would you be okay with current Tomorrowland plus subs?

I think what Autopia needs is a more narrow track. Right now it's so wide-open, it's just a bunch of cement with the scenery (what little there is) far away.

They need to bring it back to its more intimate old self. Make the track smaller, bring the scenery closer and not have it so you can see hundreds of feet in front of you. Bigger is not necessarily better. Look at all the mega-casinos in Vegas...you'd think they'd be walking all over the smaller casinos when it comes to gambling. But the small casinos get way more gamblers than mega-resorts. The reason is people like small, intimate settings sometimes. The Autopia, much like the old Motor Boat Cruise, is your own private little journey with just you and a vehicle and it's fun to feel like you're the only one around. It's one of the few rides in Disneyland where you get your very own ride vehicle all to yourself. This sense of privacy can only be achieved when the track is narrowed and the expansive sightlines are reduced.

Frankly, I liked the old Autopia better because it was more intimate and personal. The new one is too sterile and streamlined.

There is one thing I have not heard here. Who agrees that the pavement color and the type of blocks they use are ugly? Have you seen the old pictures? The current one is too warm and it needs a colder feel to it. I remember the old one used to be blue or something. Look at the pavement in this picture: http://webcot.free.fr/articles/futur...rowland-70.jpg
    http://www.dougdb.net/tl/dloldtomorrowland.JPG

    I found a cool picture: http://www.tdrfan.com/tdl/tomorrowla...jets_intro.jpg
Those are the rocket jets in Tokyo. If it were my decision this is what we would get on the platform. What is funny about that shot is that the rocket jets say USA on the side and it is in Tokyo lol but I guess they weren't the ones that went into space.
