Cool Why don't kids like DCA?

I recently purchased tickets to attend Mickeys Halloween treat for my kids and I, an event that is held at DCA every halloween season, they were so excited, but When I told them the event was held DCA and not in disneyland the excitement went from Woo-hoo to ok, I guess they were expecting you know the haunted mansion and the pirates otc etc etc any opinons on this or experiences on this? I think we'll have fun but any ideas?

Re: Why don't kids like DCA?

Wow, more DCA bashing?

Honestly, I don't see it as they don't like DCA, I see it as they would rather it be in DL.

But honestly, Who wouldn't.

I don't see it as DCA bashing, the OP's kids weren't excited about the park and they were just wondering why that might be...and the answer is, from a kid's point of view likely Disneyland has more "magical" type experiences, even if DCA has some good rides.....less likely to view a raft ride or a roller coaster or a haunted abandoned hotel as magical than say, Peter Pan or Dumbo, or Pirates.

My kids love it. Screamin', GRR, Soarin', and Hollywood Hotel! Can't miss 'em, every day we are at DL we go!

My kid hates those rides. Or I should say he is still afraid to go on them, even though he is 10. And Bug's Land is too babyish for him. He likes Soarin' Over California and Muppet Vision though. And I haven't taken him on TSM yet but I think he will like that. He HATES the idea of a Little Mermaid ride (he is a 10 year old boy) but by then he should have the courage to try out the other rides he doesn't like. And then there is Carsland on the horizon.

So for my son, DCA is a park that is both too old for him and too young for him at the same time. DL offers more of a mixture that makes him happy. But in time DCA should be offering more mid-level thrills.

Cool Re: Why don't kids like DCA?

There isn't much to do there from ages 5-13. There is little kid stuff, and older kid stuff, not much in the middle. And because Disneyland is across the walkway they can immediately compare DCA against something.

P.S. I'd love to go in your children's spot!!!

Thank you! Yeah - my son loves it too. He loves Sun Wheel, Zephyr and anything else that an 'almost 2' year old can get on. Loves to watch Calif Screamin'.......so, I don't know about this, but my son loves it.

I agree. What really seems to be missing from DCA is the element of magic and fantasy and warmth that Disneyland has. Even a kid can see that.
