Exclamation Does Indy need and update?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Indiana Jones Ride but there is one part that i think needs ajusting. The rat room is a good idea but i think that the projection is never clear and it is always hard to figure out what is being projected. From previous experience i know what it is supposed to be but to a first time visitor all they see is a bunch of smoke. I think that this area of the ride should be changed and maybe they could add an effect similar to the one in tokyo. For those who have never seen it there is a link to it below. Maybe on the one here instead of having the ring come from the mouth they could come from mara's eyes. Just and idea, what do ya think? Any different idea's for that part of the ride?

Re: Does Indy need and update?

I think they'd do better with placing actual AA rats up there and adding the (HISTA) rat-tail effect to the cars.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Sorry it doesnt work that was the only place i knew that had it. Does anyone who has been on the ride or has seen the effect know how to describe it, because you can probably do it better than me.

Yea, out of my many times ridding on the IJA, I've seen the rats working correctly...like once. Either fix that or put something else in that's just as good. It's always dissapointing to not see the rats. That's basically the one part of the ride that makes no sense now.

I think they should just put the spider web projections back and they need to fix the headlights in the bugroom to how it used to be too... the new digital projections do not look like they are coming from the car at all where as before the rehab I thought the projections actually came from the car!

Walt was always thinking of ways to make the ride better. So, in that spirit, I would say yes. But I also have to say, there are many other attractions that need more help.

Didnt they use to have something like the rat tail effects in the cars around the bugs area that made it feel like there were bugs on you legs or am i imagining things.

Re: Does Indy need and update?

This is the most off the wall dream ever, but...what if they could re-plot the track layout to allow for an actual bridge drop sequence. I planned it out step-by-step, but here's a quick overview...

    1. Normal first scene
    2. Normal Gates Scene
    3. Normal Mummy Scene
    4. Bridge
    a. Rover drives on bridge and stops
    b. Bridge quakes and shakes
    c. Arrival side of bridge falls downward
    d. Rover wheels squeal, and rover climbs a small amount
    e. Rover falls backward into stone wall with fog effects and backs into cavern
    f. Dark room - mummys begin to fall from ceilings along with snakes.
    g. Rover drives through room and is chased by attacking giant cobra
    h. Rover drives through weak wall, and continues behind Mara face
    i. New connection scene (rats) between position and dart room
    j. Ball Scene
    K. Ride Complete

This takes alot of tweaking and imagination, but if the bridge could fall with a switchback and a synchronized attack by Mara on the bridge, it would really be amazing. When a rover comes around the bend from the gates they see Mara strike the bridge and the rover fall backward, then continues. That would be incredible.

    That's my next-gen IJA design.

I agree that we need more up to date effects but I would rather have that money put into tomorrowland first. Indy is still an amazing ride but it could be so much more.

Here's an excellent video of TDS's version clearly showing the smoke ring effect you mentioned:

I've always thought it would be awesome if the TDS effect could be incorporated in the DL version. The smoke ring effect, combined with the sound and lighting is amazing!

Here is a somewhat better video clip of the smoke ring effect -

Re: Does Indy need and update?

The HISTA mice effect was originaly supposed to be used in the bug room. So as you drive through the room and see the bugs you'd feel them on your legs. The reason why they didn't do this was, of course, the budget.

I say bring back the falling lava. Yes, I know it would be really complicated and expensive to replace the ice machine in the cieling, but come on, the effect was WAY cool.
