    I`m a newbie.

Hi!! I`ll be staying a hotel near the resort next week, and will be spending one day at Disneyland Park and DCAP.

I am very familiar with Tokyo Disneyland so I`m not a complete newbie

I would appreciate it if someone could answer the following questions:

    1) What FP rides are the most popular at DP and DCAP?

    2) Is there food that I should definitely try?

    3) (non disney related) Is there a music store in/near the resort to purchase non disney related music cds? And if so, could you please tell me the name(There are some cds I would like to buy that are not sold in Japan)?

    4) (non disney related) Is there a supermarket in/near the resort?

    Thanks in advance

Hi! Hope you have a great visit. (I'll be there next week too!) There is a Walmart just a couple of miles down the freeway from Disneyland where a lot of Japanese tourists go. (In fact some tour buses make it a stop.) You can get a wide variety of items including CDs. They also carry a pretty good variety of candy and food. Best of all they have a selection of Disney souvenirs. Not the same ones as in DLand, but a very nice selection and cheaper too! Anyone at the hotel where you are staying can tell you where it is.

For food, I'd try a Churro. Lots of carts all over the park sell them!

p.s. I used to have a Datsun (Nissan) named Aka Chan!

For the first question...Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Haunted Mansion Holiday are three that come to mind. And the first two you definitely won't want to miss.

    OK, here you go...

1)FP @ DL: Indiana Jones, Space Mountain (Haunted Mansion is down for HMH overlay), Buzz Lightyear. DCA: Soarin' Over California, Toy Story Mania, California Screamin', Tower of Terror. Enjoy!
2)Food: Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou has a Monte Cristo to die for, at the Fantasyland Theater there is a "German" food counter-get a Brat and a Bavarian Pretzel, near Pirates-under the west staircase-get the fritter, at Downtown Disney-Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen-get the Binets, the Corn Dog at the stand at the end of Main Street-East side-mmmmmmmmm.
    3) & 4) I agree, go to Wal-Mart

Welcome to the United States, and have a great time at our National treasure!

Welcome! I'm not sure if these questions were answered thoroughly, so I thought I'd chime in and help!

    3) There is a "Borders" at The Block @ Orange - you might want to check that out online - but they have CD's and such. Likewise, there is a Barnes & Noble in Santa Ana/Orange area just off the 5 freeway - you might google that as well.

    4) Grocery stores: If you take Harbor north to Lincoln, hang a right and take it to the grocery stores there - I believe it's a Vons - and it's about 2 miles from Disneyland, if that. The center is on Lincoln and Anaheim Blvd.

    I hope this helps!

    Re: I`m a newbie.

there's a good target a mile or two south on harbor, just across from the Hyatt; i'm always impressed with their music prices. they've got some decent food selection too.

fastpasses for Space Mountain and Indy go the fastest at the DLR, and if it's warm and sunny so does Splash Mountain, so make sure you get those first. read the fastpass thread to make sure you can work the system best!

don't know about MUST-have food, because I like a lot of the park fare, but it's still pretty easy to find similar food elsewhere so it's not terribly special.
Dole Whips are pretty unique, so i agree with that. Also, Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for breakfast at the Riverbelle Terrace are a favorite tradition of many people. As for the most unique atmosphere, the Blue Bayou is a really cool experience if you have a little extra cash to spare.

if you like clam chowder or gumbo, it's pretty good stuff in New Orleans Square, and eating from a bread bowl is really fun (lots of people have never done that, i'm surprised to hear).
Also really great for a meal is the chicken strips or the fish and chips at the Golden Horseshoe, and if you're with a friend the servings of those are so big that I usually split it.
Also, try Bengal BBQ in Adventureland! It's pretty delish. I can't ever afford to buy a full meal there (unless i know i want a big dessert later) because it takes so many skewers to fill me up, so it makes a great snack alternative if you don't feel like churros or pretzels or popcorn.

Definitely don't bother with the hamburgers though, they're pretty bad all over the parks. If you really need a good burger, go outside of the park for one.

    1) I'd say, the following: Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Grizzly River Run and California Sreamin are the most popular.

    2) Dole whips, and Barbeque chicken from Bengal Barbeque.

    3) There are a couple Best Buys in the area. They sell all electronics. However Im not sure of the exact locations.

    4) Again, there are a couple, but not anything close enough to walk to.

I'm very interested to see your trip report when you get back home. Don't forget to let us know what you think of our little park

    For Fast Pass:

    • Space Mountail
    • Indiana Jones
    • Splash Mountain
    • Big Thunder Mountain
    • Sorin' Over California
    • Tower of Terror
    • California Screamin'

    For food:

    • Blue Bayou (Inside of Pirates of the Caribbean)
    • Trattoria (at DCA's Golden Vine Winery)
    • Storytellers at the Grand California Hotel
    • If you are looking for a nice but very expensive meal, try the Napa Rose Restaurant at the Grand California Hotel

    Music Store:

    • At the Block at Orange (an outdoor mall near Disneyland) there is a Virgin Megastore (huge)
    • Near the Block at Orange on Harbor Blvd - Target
    • Near the Block at Orange on Chapman - Best Buy

    Grocery Stores:

    • There are several grocery stores near Disneyland - none of which I can personally recommend.

Have a FANTASTIC time at the Happiest Place On Earth - Disneyland! And if you happen to be at the park on Sunday, please stop by the central hub (just in front of the castle near the Walt and Mickey statue) at noon and say hello to the MiceChatters.

    Cheers,

    Dusty

Note that Grizzly River Run is on an independent FastPass system, so you can possess a FastPass for that attraction as well as another in DCA.

I recommend the Ribs at the Pilot's Grill in DCA and the fried chicken at the Plaza in DLP

Just so you're not confused about it when you get there: Midway Mania does not have Fastpass. It has a Single Rider line, but otherwise, you'll have to wait in the normal line. Which is always moving, anyways, so no biggie!

    Re: I`m a newbie.

There's tons of great advice so far... I just wanted to say have a GREAT time at the Happiest Place On Earth!

You didn't specify dates, but if "next week" includes Sunday, September 14 or September 21... please consider stopping by the hub (in front of the castle right near the statue of Walt & Mickey) at noon for one of our MC meets!

Everyone would love to say "hi" I'm sure!

And as far as "must eat" food I have to add my vote for the Monte Cristo sandwich at Cafe Orleans or Blue Bayou!! YuM!

Here are a few music stores in the area... again, nothing really close enough to walk:
music stores 92802 - Google Maps

Rides: Got to try the Matterhorn. Unique in the world (literally).

Hope you have a great trip, lots of great advice up above.
