Only one Matterhorn?

I have a question that might sound silly to alot of the DLR fanatics but I was watching a show about the Disney parks on tv and I think they said that the Matterhorn in DLR is the one and only. I have only been to the origional magic kingdom and DCA so I wouldn't know from experience.

Re: Only one Matterhorn?

The Matterhorn is only at Disneyland.

Re: Only one Matterhorn?

That is cool especially lately it seems that DLR can't have a sucessful ride without WDW building one themselves.

Expedition Everest isn't in Epcot...it's in Animal Kingdom, and it's really nothing like the matterhorn. It features the Yeti, but the ride and theming is very different.

Yeah, yeah. Okay. Valid points. But now say that Expedition Everest wasn't just created off of the fact that all those East-coasters were insanely jealous of our Matterhorn. -_-

Yup our Matterhorn is the one and only (besides the real one that is) We also have the only Alice in Wonderland darkride, I understand, which I find much more impressive.

Re: Only one Matterhorn?

Yup yup, the only other Matterhorn is this one, and there's no theme park ride inside. :P

I haven't experienced Expedition Everest in person, but I know a fair amount about it. It's a different attraction, to be sure; it has a well-developed storyline, very authentic theming in the queue, a rather different physical feel, and, of course, a different setting. The yeti is much larger than our abominable snowman, and it's based on the brown-furred, apelike yeti that natives of the area around Everest believe in. Joe Rohde--one of the most amazing Imagineers currently alive, I daresay--spent a lot of time and effort researching for and designing the attraction with his team, including significant chunks of time on location overseas.

That being said...while I'm sure I'll enjoy EE when I finally get to experience it, nothing could ever be a better Matterhorn than our Matterhorn.

Re: Only one Matterhorn?

Wasn't there talk of adding the Matterhorn to the Switzerland Pavilion at Epcot Center?

I guess the cough made you forget it's in the Animal Kingdom...

No it's not. Don't forget that really cheap ripoff Matterhorn at that cheap ripoff park in Japan, Nara Dreamland. Here's a pic of the ripoff Matterhorn:
