Okay...maybe you have a point.
You forgot Charlton Heston, Ronald Reagan....and John Stamos.

Re: 2008 Candlelight Processional (Merged)

Don't be too quick to equate the quality of the narration with the celebrity status of the performer.

Disneyland booked very high-profile names for the park's 50th anniversary and the following year, but that has not been a standard practice over the life of this event. Many lesser-known actors have done a fine job in this role. (Keep in mind that the real stars of this performance are the choir and orchestra; the narrator is there to support them.)

The most moving narration of Candlelight I ever witnessed was by Ross Martin, who played Artemis Gordon in the old "Wild Wild West" T.V. series. He outshone several of his more famous colleagues by a mile.

I sang in Candlelight 5 times and so far my favorite was James Earl Jones. I have also seen John Forsythe (voice from original Charlie's Angels) and Charltin Heston. I love Candlelight. I can still sing every song!

My girlfriend is singing first soprano in this year's Candlelight. I don't know which day.

Question Re: 2008 Candlelight Processional (Merged)

Hi,

I have been following this tread because this year will be the first time I will go to DL during the Xmas season and my entire family is very excited. We are planning our trip for Dec. 6 - 10. I'm reading here that the park will not be that crowded, however, when looking for hotels near the park, most are full (no vacancy) during this time. Should I be worried about the crowds or is this normal? I already know the park closes early on Monday & Tuesday for the employees. I'm not concerned about this as long as he parks are not crowed and we can hit all the rides, shows, parades, etc. Just want to know if I should push my vacation out 1 week where it appears the hotels are not as crowed.

Thanks in advance for any advise or opinions.

If you can't get a hotel, where will you stay?

The park will be deadlocked Saturday and Sunday night on Main Street because of candlelight. Not only that, there will be risers up on the train station, so you really won't get the whole "christmas" effect. If you are not interested in viewing candlelight (which is actually very nice), I would move your vacation back.

Re: 2008 Candlelight Processional (Merged)

The 6th and 7th will be extremely busy because of the Christmas Processional. Sometimes there is some very limited standing room if you want to see the program. You will be able to see the processional from anywhere on Main Street, as the choir goes down Main Street to the Railroad Station, which will be set up as the stage - This is something that only happens only on this weekend, and it is something that I personally really enjoyed seeing first hand. If you have a desire to see it, yes, go during that time. Just be aware also that the parade and fireworks on that Monday and Tues are extremely early - here's the main holiday thread, with all the links: Disneyland Holiday and Christmas Events, Info, and News

If you really don't want to see any part of the processional, then you probably would be better off going the 2nd weekend of December. It will be less congested, especially during the evening. But if you do want to brave crowds, I think it is worth seeing this at least one time in DL! Just be ready for the crowds and limited viewing.

If I get the link, I will post it here to help if the servers crash like they did the last two years.

So far, the servers seem responsive. (maybe the "econimic downturn" will allow us to get tickets!)
