I'm gonna have to start going alot less that is for sure. Leave it to GWB to even in some way deprive me from Disneyland.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

Well, it's affected my plans. My best friend and I were planning on driving down this weekend but she just called 2 minutes ago and said she saw gas was $3.01 per gallon on the way home so all plans are off. Can't afford to go until we hit payday again and that's only if we're careful with our cash. Sigh.

The gas prices are a bit frustrating but I'm still going to be there in October...driving down from Sacramento. My sister is in a professional production of Gypsy so I'm heading down for that in the same weekend.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

We're driving down in October. I am fully prepared to pay upwards of $3.50 a gallon. It's almost $3.00 here in WA state. I originally planned gas at $3 a gallon, if it hits $4, my trip will cost another $100. That's just for gas, though. I'm sure Everything is going to start going up in price and soon.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

I think i may affect it.If th gas prices start soaring over 3.50 then I think it will just a little. If this keeps up it will be cheaper just to fly there and stay in a neighborhood hotel if ur JUST visiting Disneyland. But if not then yes I think it will eventually hurt it.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

Certainly those of us who are going to go, will go.

For me, down and back is generally about three tanks of gas on the small car (since the SUV only gets 12mpg, I don't want to think about how much that would run me, even if I brought the Airstream with me). So you're looking at perhaps another $50-$100, depending on what gas prices are then (I expect they'll be closer to $4.50 than $2.00, it's already near $6 in Atlanta).

What it will do, however, is cut down on in-park spending. People, it seems to me, will be buying less goodies in the park, and perhaps even eating less in the park.

We'll have to just wait and see.

Well, as my profile says, I live 411.3 miles from Disneyland and we are driving, as it says in my signature! That's what gas cards are for, worry about it later! I planned this trip long before all h*** broke loose! Besides, if the President can stay on vacation then I can go on vacation!

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

Well, I haven't canceled any of my plans, however, I haven't made any more either. I'm not going out as much as I have in the past, at least, I have no plans to go out as much. If prices really do get and stay near $4 a gallon, well, I guess I just won't be going anywhere.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

ALL Travel destinations will feel the pinch.

In Nor Cal we are close to $4 a gallon, and VERY soon Airfaires will rise due to the cost of jet Fuel.

Re: Will the high price of gas reduce attendance at DL?

The rising gas prices may serve to weed out all but the serious Disney fans. The casual day-tripper that is just looking for something to do won't be so willing to pluck down $56 for a last-minute trip to DL.

Increased airfares, however, may convert a lot of WDW regulars into DLR regulars, if it becomes significantly cheaper to fly to Anaheim .....

Personally, I don't see it diminishing the number of our visits ....... but it may diminish the quality of our dining options (less blue Bayou ....... more Hungry Bear) or fewer souvenirs.

Let's see, 120 miles round trip, figure 20 MPG ..... or 6 gallons. $24 @ $4 per gallon, or an extra $12 (over $2 per gallon) ........ maybe I'll just cut out the churros .......

Latest news flash:
According to CNN gas prices will be "well above $4.00 a gallon" this fall. I live in AZ and this changes my plans.
