Aaaaaargh, Mice-Chatters...all ya' had to do was ask for a closeup. Whatever the PBSofA stands for, it was part of the attraction even before construction, as can be seen from this shot of one of the models:

    Here is the closeup:

And for something a little more recent, here’s a crystal-clear closeup:

I've supplied the photos, hopefully there is SOMEONE who can give a definitive answer of what it stands for! This has been a cool thread, as I've ridden this attraction many a time and never noticed this lettering.

My guess is the acronym stands for either an Imagineer's name (or several Imagineers) OR an inside joke that nobody will ever know or were meant to know other than the parties involved all those years ago.

If I was gonna take a stab at it at all... I'll say......

Anybody able to get in contact with Alice Davis? She might be one of the best people still alive who would know. Just a suggestion...

Wow Dave, thanks for those shots. They are great.

I think it just deepens the mystery and only further spurs me on to find some answer that it was in the mockup models as well. That really seems to point to it having some sort of very specific meaning. Either joke or real. There has GOT to be something somewhere that answers this.

Does anyone know anyone with access to the WDI Archive Library?

Well, the Public Broadcasting Service started in 1967 the same year Pirates opened. Maybe a tribute to the PBS of Anaheim?

I'd say it would be a great idea to ask Alice Davis. If there was anyone who knew the answer, it would most likely be her.
