Re: Big Disney Announcement this afternoon

ok I get the whole get in free on my birthday thing which is totally awesome, but in roaming the site its weird some of the things they list are things to do to celebrate...

If you look under triumphs it actually lists one of the ways to celebrate is to go on ToT
Prove your mettle by taking on the ultimate thrill: scaling the heights of the once-glamorous, now-abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel! Uncover the mystery behind a night—long ago—when lightning struck, then plunge 13 stories into the recesses of the unknown.
If you look under reunions, activities it actually lists touring the cutting edge technology at Innoventions, thats not really what I had in mind for my reunion...

They suggest first time visitors go to World of Disney, and visiting TSMM on your birthday...

Anyway its a grand idea and the little touches they have added to the dining experiences and parties are nice, just seems like the old is repackaged as new. At least unlike YOAMD everyone has a birthday next year (except those born on 2/29 I guess...Aashee...) so almost everyone wins that free ticket or other prize, thats a great way to get people to the parks.

    A little piece of heaven

This is already shaping up to be a better promotion than the Year of a Million Dreams --- you're actually guaranteed to get something, unlike the YOAMD where the promotion was to get you into the parks under the premise that you could win, but the chances of winning were pretty slim.

I posted this in another thread.... but it applies here, too.

I wonder if this birthday promotion will bring more guests to the park or merely adjust when guests will come to the park.

Also, 600,000 AP'ers, $69 each..... that's $41,000,000 down the drain if everyone takes advantage of this offer.

Yeah, I wonder what's going to happen to the Dream Suite and Cinderella Suite at WDW. Rumor was that the Disney Dreams Giveaway would remain and be extended through 2009, but that doesn't look like it will happen. In that case, what will become of the Dream Suite?

Will it become an expensive hotel suite that guests can buy as part of their celebration? Or will it remain a giveaway and be randomly given away to people "celebrating" at the parks?

It'll be interesting to see what happens...

I doubt every AP'er will go for it. Some of them are families that don't live so close, so going for every birthday might now work out. Also, some may not even notice, hear about or pay attention to the promotion so they won't do it.

That being said, I'm sure Disney will be sliding a bunch of $ in the AP'ers direction.
