Thumbs up New AP Food discounts take effect TODAY, 9/2/05

As now listed at Disneyland.com AP Section, they have seriously increased the amount of locations where you can get an AP Food Discount.

Basically any Food Outlet at Disneyland, DCA or the Hotels will give you a Discount... (Club 33, Napa Rose, Room Service and ODV Carts do NOT give AP discounts.)

SoCal Select, SoCal and Deluxe AP's get 10% off

    Premium's get 15% off

Discounts do not apply to Alcoholic Drinks

The Merchandise discount remains at 10%, and still is ONLY for Premium AP's.

This makes it a LOT easier for us AP'ers to remember where you can get a discount, and will hopefully prevent a lot of complaints to CM's when dealing with AP holders.....

And FYI, Food prices will be going up resort wide on October 1st......

Wow, this is really great news. I'm really impressed they have added such a good benefit in, what a pleasant surprise. With the price increase being only $20, the benefit definitely outweighs the higher cost. I spend a lot on food especially when I take the whole gang (neices/nephews), and just in time: we're going today!!

Is there still a limit on how much you have to spend to get the discount?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I would imagine there still is. They have never been consistant with when the $10 limit is required on food. I have been to some registers where they require the $10, and others have given me the discount without the minimum. The web page does not say "Minimum" on food, but the AP calendar does.

LOL, I love this last line. While Disney is offering more discounts, they're concurrently raising their prices to essentially negate those discounts. These price increases are really starting to chafe. It was kind of amusing 10 years ago when everything was outrageously expensive, but since then they've increased their prices way faster than the rate of inflation. Disney can't keep outstripping inflation forever because in a few decades a hamburger will cost the equivalent of $50 today...and who is going to pay that.

In the end I'm sure people will still buy tons of food inside the park and they'll make lots more money so they can siphon it away from the park and into Disney's executive bonuses. Lots of good things happening under Matt Ouitmet, but LOTS of price increases too.

I love the AP discount! Saves you whole single dollars at a time each time you go get food. And Disney DVDs, like last time I went I wanted to get Bambi and it was only $24-25 at Wonderful World of Disney, but we get an AP discount so it's like $22!! (19.99 at target )

This is good news. Especially since I live in Minnesota and really can never remember where you could get a discount and the details on it. I was just too used to my CM discount from TDS that they honored everywhere dispite any dollar minimum sale. I'm afraid I just add to their conplaints.... sorry!

But this IS interesting news. AP prices go up, discounts increase, food prices increase.... what impact will this have on the already wonderful world of AP holders and foods at Disneyland?

How much higher do you think the increase is going to be? I think it will be fifteen percent just to cancel out the discount for AP holders.
~Ah, the wonderful sight of the fabled Apocalypse. Now appearing in Disney's Toontown!~
