    Tomorrowland's new pavement

[pictures taken from Andy Castro's Dateline Disneyland]

I really like it because it's simple, modern, and much cleaner looking than the pavers. The cement squares seem small enough to make interesting but simplistic. It's already fixed alot of the visual problems I have with Tomorrowland(well...judging from the pictures). I say...please put this stuff throughout Tomorrowland, Disney!

I guess the obvious complaint is that it's "too plain" but I just thought it would be interesting to see everyone's opinion on this.

I really think DL is going in a very positive direction right now. Kudos to everyone making this happen.

I don't know. It looks kind of unfinished to me.

It looks more modern than pavers. Now if they could build a futuristic land around the new pavement.

I like it! It also makes the scope of the land overall a little more...lively? Color scheme works better.

Looks like a probable improvement to me, though it's impossible to be sure from the photos. In all likelihood, it looks better in person, but I can't be sure.

It's nice... kinda sterile-looking, in my opinion. The way the future should be. Like that imagery of super white futuristic corridors and what not. Like the Tantive IV (for all you Star Wars fans out there). I think it's an improvement, cuz as far as I know, I've never seen pavers in ANY futuristic movie.

I'll reserve final judgement for after I've seen them in person, but for now... I'm of mixed opinions. I really like the grid layout of it- definitely much better: cleaner, simpler, and easier on the eyes. But, I don't like how plain it is. I could be wrong about the color, but to me it looks like they didn't do anything with it, color-wise, and only used concrete sealer on it. Maybe my eyes need adjusting, but it looks plain grey to me.

I sure hope it looks much better in person.

While I dunno if the Tantive IV would be quite right stylistically for Tomorrowland, I agree with the bulk of what you're saying. Tomorrowland needs to toe the line between technological sterility and flashy, kinetic excitement.

I was just using it as an example.... not quite that extreme lol. I think you're right... that balance would make Tomorrowland one heck of a place to be!

    Re: Tomorrowland's new pavement

The one thing that bugs me about this all though..is..with the new pavement, it's a much less warm color..so it looks even more un-inviting than it did before near the buildings. I think a simple solution would be to add trees or planters to the sides of the star Tours buildings and BLAB...just to make it all a little more friendly...and it could still look futuristic...as long as the plants and trees are insanely well kept it could still look modern.

And I have to agree with everybody so far..the color scheme works a lot better with this pavement, and while it would also be nice for other updates...this makes the buildings look better, and overall improves Tomorrowland A LOT for me.

that being said..my armchair Imagineering ideas would include different pavement...but this is an improvement that i'm still geeking out over.

    Re: Tomorrowland's new pavement

All I got to say is I like it alot. I remember in Aug. when I was there and walking out of Tomorrowland next to Star Tours to Main Street. One of the brikes or what ever they where was loose and I almost twisted my foot. But I do like it alot.
