Muholand Madness

Another series of questions that spawned about by peoples responses to my last post:

Does anyone here like Muholand Madness?
Can you compare it to other wild mouse type rides?

If you had to choose between tower of terror and Muholand Madness which would you choose to ride? The only reason why I ask to compare these two is because I'll only be in Disneyland and DCA for a day and trying to get a nice mix of thrill rides and Disney themed rides. We're only going for California Soarin, CA Screamin, and Toy Story Madness for sure in DCA. O ya, and to corndog castle! hehe

What is the average line time for Muholand Madness on a Mid-week summer day?

Re: Muholand Madness

As I replied in the other thread, no I don't like it because of it's jerky nature. I've never been on ToT either, but I would assume anything would be better than Muholand Madness.

Re: Muholand Madness

I do not like Mulholland Madness at all. I'm not huge on wild mouse rides in the first place, but this one is just...not fun. I feel like I'm in real danger - not fun, "safe" danger - while not experiencing any particularly strong physical thrills. Not to mention the complete lack of any substantial, Disney-quality theming.

I'd easily choose Tower of Terror any day. I'm not sure why you're comparing those two, as they're quite different, but I know there's no question in my mind. ToT is a well-themed, fairly physically thrilling attraction that feels safe.

Re: Muholand Madness

I know alot of people don't like MM but I think it is really fun. Sometimes rides of this nature are not smooth. It is supposed to be a little thrilling.

An effort that fails for me...I feel simultaneously bored and endangered while riding it. The exact opposite feelings - excitement and real-world safety - are what thrill rides should deliver.

(I am happy for you that you enjoy the attraction, though. I just wish it were at an amusement park somewhere else for you to enjoy, not in a Disney theme park. )

I agree that it lacks theming but I am suprised that you don't feel safe while riding. The excitement on this ride is minimal compared to several other rides at DLR.

Re: Muholand Madness

Please note my edit to my original post about why I'm comparing ToT with M. Madness. Just a time issue that is all. Thanks for your insight. No one has yet given me a line time estimate for it on a peak "July" summertime weekday, hwoever. A time estimate on ToT would be helpful as well regular queue line. We could probably fastpass one of the other though, so that would make that question irrelevant.

Exactly...minimal excitement! That's what I said! I want to be excited, not made to feel unsafe. They're very different feelings. On Indiana Jones, my heart pounds and a big part of my brain believes the illusion it's participating in. But nothing that happens makes me feel like something actually could go wrong. With MM, there is no illusion. I'm careening around on a physically uncomfortable ride, half-wondering if I could hit my head on the beams above or if improper maintenance could result in my car flying off the dreadfully unbanked turns, plummeting to a possibly fatal crash on the ground below.

When Disney was designing Pirates of the Caribbean, they considered filling the burning town with smoke. That'd be more realistic, right? But people have triggers. The smell and sight of smoke are big ones. Go too far, and you cross the line into making people feel genuinely afraid. On Mulholland Madness, that line is a little too close for comfort. For me, that is.

Re: Muholand Madness

I agree with most of the sentiments of the other posters.

I don't like it because it's jerky and feels dangerous.

I love ToT though!

Re: Muholand Madness

For the OP.

I'm OK with Mulholland Madness but it's just too common. If you are looking for thrill and theme, TOT blows it away, not even close. On a not so busy weekday, the wait for MM should be around 20 minutes or less. TOT doesn't have a long wait either. I'd say if you haven't gone on MM give it a try, but TOT is worth a ride or 2 or 13.

You have valid points and this just shows how different people have different experiences on the same ride. The parts of the ride that make you feel unsafe, those are the parts of the ride that love. It gets my adrenaline pumping. The part where you feel like you might fly off the ride and the drop that is exciting for me.

I guess it boils down to where you feel unsafe I am excited and thrilled. Agree to disagree.

Re: Muholand Madness

For the OP, I know why you're comparing the two, but there really is no comparison. Tower of Terror is an incredible thrill ride full of elaborate theming and detail. Mulholland Madness probably isn't worth your time. Even though it might be considered thrilling by some, those thrills easily pale in comparison to Tower of Terror or, more logically, California Screamin'. Unless, of course, you live for the sensation of nearly falling off the track.

Yup yup. Like I said, I'm happy for you that you enjoy the ride.

Re: Muholand Madness

I love both. I only have two gripes against MM (aside form themeing), that are: 1)The brakes at the very end of the ride. Ouch!! and, 2)It doesn't go through the turns at the top of the ride fast enough. It's fun, but I really want to be whipped around. That's the fun of wild mouse coasters, and this one is tame, IMO. I've never been on another one to compare it to, but in my mind, they should be more intense.

Tower of Terror is great, really it is, but on a busy day, I'll choose Mulholland Madness. Why? I've got three words for you: Single Rider Line.

But, seriously. Tower of Terror is a MUCH better ride. I'm just not fond of the wait times, sometimes.
