In his description of the upcoming gumball rally at WDW, Kevin Yee said

Think of this event as a crazy kind of theme park race, where you ride attractions as fast as you can, answering questions on your game packet that can only be answered if you actually go on the attraction (this is our proof that you aren't cheating).

Given the extensive knowledge that some of the folks here have about the parks and their attractions, I found myself wondering what kind of question the event planners might ask that people here wouldn't know already, such that they'd need to visit the attraction to get the answer. I mean, if they say "how many bears are in this or that part of Splash Mountain?" someone will probably know that already! Can anyone share an example question from previous gumball rallies?

I can't come up with a specific example off the top of my head, but the questions are written in just the right way to make you second guess yourself and force you on the ride.

Yup. They are VERY specific and what some would consider mundane... but ones that unless you actually go on the ride, there is pretty much no way on the planet you could guess and get it right. They aren't your common trivia questions.

What time does the clock show when Pooh is falling asleep in the Pooh attraction?

After the final drop on Splash Mountain there is a sign on the left side of the ride, what does it say?

From what I read, they're often things you would never look for, details like "how many lights on the operator control panel", so even a park fanatic probably wouldn't have much of an advantage, if someone were inclined to cheat.

What's sick is that everytime I go to DL now after having done the Gumball Rally I sit on rides and say things to myself like "They're are 6 snakes on the door Indy is guarding" or "there are three orange lights above your rocket when you first roll past the control tower on Space" and so on and so on. The questions aren't always super tough, but they do make you think and pay attention during the rides.

More funny to me was when CMs figured out what we were doing and kept asking what our question was for their attraction.

It was 4... The most fun was going on rides with people the next day and having heated discussions on some of the answers to the questions.

For me, I can't forget the waterfalls on POTC. (or how I kept pointing them out like a bad flight attendant)

All I'll say is that after reading the questions from last year, the questions are brilliant. They guys and gals who put it together are extremely good at what they do and it shows.

our team was honestly quite stunned by the questions once we got our packet on gumball rally morning, the questions were amazingly well thought out and would have been difficult for anyone to answer without riding the rides

The questions are incredible. Even if you go to the park every week the gumball rally masterminds manage to find things you've never seen before.

Even though we haven't gotten past WDW's first Gumball Rally, I'm already looking forward to Disneylands 3rd GR.

The anticipation, planning and execution of the Rally is immensely fun, but it's the comraderie of the event that is so fulfilling.

Gumball Rally's bring diverse groups of people together for one goal... to have FUN! Winning is secondary in my book. Participation is the key. It doesn't matter if you're an organizer, participant, or volunteer... having fun with your fellow MiceChatters is what it's really all about.

It usually falls on the same weekend as the MiceChat Birthday Celebration which is held on the last weekend of January, which happens to usually be the weekend following the Martin Luther King 3-day holiday.

If that holds true in 2009, then the Gumball Rally will be held on Saturday, January 24th and the MiceChat 4 year Birthday Party will on Sunday January 25th.
