Re: Which Is the Superior Park, DCA or Universal Studios, Hollywood?

I think having an annual pass to USH makes is a better experince, but not for the rigfht reasons. xD I thought it was better, beacause you didnt have to stay all day. I didn't renew my AP for USH, but I know that when renweal time comes around for my disney AP it will be renwed. I actually like DCA alot, because you dont need to be there all day. Like if you have something to do later, or you are tired or something. Being at disneyland is intoxicating. Ride something, you want to ride this and then this. DCA has that feeling of a not-so-hardcore park. I'm not sure if anyone understood that that, but whatever. :P

DCA gets my vote.

I get tired and do everything by the halfday mark in either parks, but the repeat value of DCA is higher the USH in my eyes.
Good point about cutting the price of admission to 1/3 when one of the rides is down. I argue though that the rides at USH are highly repeatable to many - myself included. Also, the moving seats of Shrek make it a ride as well.

It's a movie-studio. They had the tram-tour for how many years, which was probably nice. But then they tried to construct a theme-park as well. The 2 level system is a joke. It takes 10-15 minutes just to get from the top level to the lower level. Not to mention there is absolutely no room for expansion and if they want to build something new, they have to close something.

Also, USF makes USH look even worse after you've been there and see what Universal can do with a park with no space limitations.
DCA's lack of cohesive theming is atrocious. This is a large part of the rationale behind the current makeover. The two level system is unique. It's fun to take an elevator or an escalator to another section of the park. The shows and rides are very well laid out.

There seems to be more to do in a day at DCA (which is scary) and MUCH more that is geared towards families with children.
I'll agree with you that DCA is a better park once Little Mermaid and Cars Land are added. But, I find both parks fun and their rides far more repeatable than those at Knott's or Magic Mountain.

DCA is much better in terms of presentation and having attractions that remain fun after going in/on them many times over.

When I spend a week at DL Resort, I visit DCA every day for hours at a time. I enjoy being in DCA. At Universal, I like doing the attractions, but I really don't enjoy the park itself that much. I never have a desire to go back right away. Once a year is usually enough for me.

There are probably only two attractions at Universal that I enjoy doing more than once and they are quite a pain to get to (Jurassic Park & The Mummy). There are at least a handful of attractions at DCA that I enjoy doing multiple times and never grow tired of.

So, considering my overall enjoyment, I have to side with DCA.
There's so little to do at either park that i don't wish to return to either directly after a one or two day visit.

I really can't submit an informed opinion on DCA vs USH because I have only been to USH a handful of times and while it was fun I don't remember much about it. The same could be said of DCA vs SFMM... I haven't been to SFMM in years!

All this comparing of DCA is interesting though. Hopefully as the quality of the park improves the comparisons become less frequent.
The quality of DCA will definitely be improving each year now.

I very much enjoy the Downtown Disney outdoor mall just about as much as DCA. ..
