Why is Disneyland only using 2 languages??

Think back to 2001. The official PA announcements came in English (A Given), Spanish, and Japanese.

PA Announcements as in those for parades, Fireworks, and fantasmic. The Japanese PA announcement for Aladdin can still be heard in DCA. But the rest have disappeared.

Since 2005, the Japanese language has been dropped from the PA, to the loss of one of Disney's largest tourist demographic.

What's the reason?? DLP reads in English, Spanish, French, German, ECT. Why can't Disneyland read in Japanese too?

What about it? They still get plenty of Japanese tourists.

I wonder why they don't have it either. I only ask because I love listening to Japanese.

Because it would just be incredibly confusing, & annoying to have 3 spiels right after each other. The Spanish spiel is bad enough as it is (although I love the stuff for the Matterhorn & Monorail in WDW).

btw... No offense to anyone who's Spanish.

The three languages are not for attractions spiels. Only PA Announcements reguarding Parades, Fantasmic, Fireworks, ect.

I kind of miss the Japanese announcements myself, it makes Disneyland seem more international. If Disney wants to keep charging $70+ for one person to get in to Disneyland during a recession, they had better hope that the Japanese tourists show up with their relatively strong yen.

Not nearly as many as there were in the early 80's. The park was full of them when the Japanese economy was going strong. When their economy tanked you could see the difference in the park. And I think that the park that doesn't require a pacific transit picks up a few that would otherwise come here.

I believe WDW gives their PA announcements in Portuguese as well.

There's simply a lot less Japanese tourists in the park than there used to be due to a decade-long recession after their real estate bubble burst (sound familiar?). It's more likely in ten or twenty years, perhaps, we'll have PA announcements in Chinese.

That's easy. English is the Universal Language. Anahiem is a highly populated Hispanic community. Disneyland is mostly filled with Japanese Tourists.

Japanese spiels are seasonal. Disney knows ahead of time when the Japanese spiels need to be played, and it hasn't been for awhile. Don't worry. They still exist.
