    Quick Evening at Disneyland 10/9

So, the wife and I went to the park for a few hours tonight. When we got to the entrance, we noticed that Disneyland was open until 11pm. How curious...

We asked a few Cast Members why they were open until 11pm and seriously every single one said (almost exactly the same) "Honestly, I have no idea." It was very funny.

The crowds seemed a bit heavy for a Thursday night in October, I guess because it was open later than normal. But, POTC was only 5 minutes; HMH with a fastpass was only 10; and we hit the FL darkrides with relatively short lines.

While we were in line for HMH, a very funny CM from England (his name escapes me) was singing "We Wish You A Scary Christmas" that used to play in the queue a couple years back. I asked him why they don't play those songs anymore and he said he wasn't sure, but they were trying to bring them back because they were very popular. I said "that would be sweet!"

Overall it was a good night. Then.... The exit. It was freakin' madness. I guess since the schedules were a little different, DCA closed or something at the same time the POD ended in Disneyland. A sea of people with no where to move.

    Chaos.

    Sorry about the quality, iphone.

People were arguing with each other. One guy carrying a stoller and a backpack was just shoving his way through. He knocked me into another group of people and pushed a guy that had a kid in a stoller. They almost threw down, but luckily it just ended with harsh words.

None of the CM's knew why the park schedule was different, or what exactly was going on. Needless to say it took us 20 minutes to get from the Gibson Girl to the exit. I've never seen anything like that, especially on a Thursday night in the fall.

It wasn't enough to sour our night though. We still had a great time and basically laughed off the Madness on Main Street. I'm sure the CM's were hating life. But they were doing there best. If I had 100 of my pins with me, I would've given one to each CM just for surviving the onslaught.

Sorry for the short report. Cheers!

The photos, didn't show, but I'm glad to hear you had a good time. We were quite busy at DCA, and from what I understand, there was a lot of guests from Arizona in, so that may explain the crowds. We even closed a little later than normal for a Thursday at DCA, which was at 7 pm.

Glad to hear you had a great time!

It's Columbus Day weekend. That's why the park hours were extended for the whole weekend. I'm saddened that more CM's don't know/understand that.

Strange. My school always had the Monday off. That was awhile ago and I know it's quite controversial to celebrate Columbus today.

FWIW - I think it's also a national holiday in Canada.

Yes, much the same here, my school never observed Columbus day, so I did not memorize it's date. I'm not a bad CM, I swear ><

Well Disneyland is also scheduled to close at 11pm next Thursday as well, with the fireworks at 9:25. I thought today was busy partly from the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur, where I read some schools are closed. But what is going on next Thursday, the 16th??

It's Thanksgiving up here on Monday. The schools here started emptying out yesterday. I know of a few families who are heading down to DL. Sadly I'm not one.

Holidays, that makes sense for extended hours. They need to figure out some better timing for next week though, or there's going to be some riots.

    Is the picture there now?
