Disney already has an unobstructed recreation of the Carthay Circle Theater at the Disney-MGM Studios. The Carthay Circle Theater also has no owners, as it was demolished in 1970.

The Chinese Theater is also no longer owned by the competition. It was sold recently to new, non-studio owners.

Oh good grief. I don't even want to think about a WDW Project Tracker. I'd lose my mind! ahahhaha

Anyway, Kevin Yee updates us all on WDW projects every so often in a regular rumor rundown feature in his columns. Maybe we can convince him to come onto the forums and put together dedicated Project Trackers for each park?

Frankly, I do not believe it has to do with the owner's objections (source: WDW1974). It makes more sense that Disney, who owns (is it owned now?) a nearby theater in Hollywood, does not want to be pushing the image of a theater that was, in 2001, owned by Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures.

Also, if the issue was a matter of ownership rights to the image of the theater, I would think that Mann's (then under the ownership of competitors Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures) would be able to demand that Disney tear down the offending structure.

There is not a single shred of evidence that has ever been forwarded to suggest that there ever was a copyright issue with the image of the Chinese Theater. So far as I can tell it's complete heresay.

The two most likely reason that the Hat is staying up is 1) Disney doesn't care for the money or effort needed to tear it down and 2) it serves as convenient icon that helps people navigate this poorly-laid-out park.

Back to DCA... It looks like there are still vehicles spinning around the Golden Zephyr tower. Wasn't the ride supposed to be taken off the tower, which was going to be used for the World of Color show?

No, there was a rumor about something like that a long time ago, but everything more recently has pointed to it staying, possibly with some minor upgrades. Supposedly the WOC control booth will be in the LM building.

I actually like the golden zephyr. it's unique. and i think it could be really nice to ride and to look at. especially at night.
