Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

The Parachute Drop is a great idea and is missed in Socal. again fits with the new theme.

I hope the queue for Screamin is heavily themed. I always thought a Fun House theme would be great. Maybe add a mirror maze, crazy mirrors, and interactive gags to the queue and you have a winner. It kind of looks like a house in the model. Maybe my idea is coming...?

I'm iffy on the parachute ride too, the view from that location isn't great and we already have a "similar" type of ride a couple yards away with the Jelly Fish..

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

I was hoping the Maliboomer would come out completely and that the area would be used as a queue for a new ride, with show building behind Screamin', much like TSMM. In theory, they could still remove Maliboomer/Parachutes 5-6 years from now when Phase II starts. Of course, they have to put some money into this re-theme, but better than having nothing or just Maliboomer there for 5 years.

I was under the impression that the jellyfish ride would become the parachute ride...

I think that camo green color makes it look down right awful. I would prefer something more like the Lifesavers Parachute Tower from the 1939 World's Fair. Not to mention that this shade of green is more appropriate to the uniforms of the 1950s - mid 1980s and not the Victorian era. It isn't even a color reminiscent of a circa World War I uniform.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

did anyone notice how the screamin' queue has very little detail. the walls look pretty flat and the roof is bland.

even if the fun-house rumor is right, why is it a bland-house (if you will) on the outside?

ALSO! anyone notice the new Hyperion facade at 1:06 on the video from LaughinPlace?

My thoughts too. It's just... grown up Jumpin Jellyfish. I'm fine with parachutes if jellyfish gets cleaned out.

And yah, it definitely doesn't match the style of Victorian... only because it has flags on it and nothing much else?

The idea of "army" also doesn't say "fun in the sun for everyone" to me.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

I think that Screamin' building is probably still being designed, or at least was when this model was built. That looks more like just a massing model than the rest of the more finished model. It also doesn't seem to show the queue, that building only looks like it's pretty much just in the loading area. Anyway, the sign next to the model say that not everything is actually going to be done like this, so we need to take that into consideration with the model.

If they keep the Scream sheilds, I say paint them white like the track and they'll blend right in!

You're right the screaming building doesn't look completed at least the out side of it. But they do have some landscaping setup where the old queue used to be, perhaps the main queue is being moved into the building on top of the loading station? I hope so, the removal of the queue on the model really opens up the pier making it seem much larger.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

I remember a long time ago someone posted a pic the scream shields with some Victorian brakcets added and I was surprised, but it actually looked pretty good. I think they could probably keep them and make them look decent but it does look nice without them. I also wonder how much they help block out the views to outside the park while on the ride. As it is now your vision of outside is surprisingly not that bad and generally the layout seems to direct your attention to the park side pretty well.

Can somebody post a pic of these scream shields? I've never seen them before.

I like it. Is it going to be a crazy thrill ride like Maliboomer?

You've never noticed the big blue tubes on California Screamin? Or do you mean the Maliboomer's shields?

Oh, the blue things. I thought these shields are on the vehicles themselves. Well, I for one don't see anything wrong with the blue things. They look great at night.
