![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I dont know why Disney put WOC first, wouldnt it be better if they added a ride first then addres WOC. Its clear people are going to leave right after the show....how long is the show going to last in Length ? |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II This is purely speculative, but I'd guess that World of Color will have a duration similar to Fantasmic, right around 20 minutes. That WoC comes before the big new attractions does make sense when you consider that it was incorporated into the decision that Paradise Pier would be the first land to receive attention, including the new attraction Midway Mania, the Sun Wheel / Mickey's Fun Wheel makeover, the Mulholland Madness retheme, the removal of Rustworthy play area and the new beer garden in its place, the revised midway games, and the Orange Stinger / Silly Symphony Swings redo. The draining of Paradise Bay and the construction of the terraced seating fit into those plans the best, I'm guessing. Also, the new DVC wing of the Grand Californian will be completed by then as well. |

And it's not the rides that will pull people from the Fireworks/Fantasmic!. There needs to be an entertainment aspect. WoC should definitely alleviate some of that Main Street/Adventureland/Frontierland congestion that RDCT and F! cause. If the show is as good as they are billing it, it could draw as much as F! prospectively which should noticeably ease the crowds in DL. Then, as rides are finished and opened, the crowds will remain in DCA instead of then rushing back over to DL. Especially if you add an additional Electrical Parade showing after WoC. WoC is the reason to go to DCA in the evening instead of RDCT/F! and the rides are the reason to stay after WoC. Just rides aren't enough to draw away from the fireworks or Fantasmic!. A lot really does hinge on WoC being very successful.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II WOC is first because it was already approved and budgeted for prior to the 1 billion funding for the rest of the DCA upgrades. Even though WOC and TSMM were already in the works, for PR purposes they were lumped into the same redo since the public announcement had to be made early as part of the SunCAL/Anaheim Resort District fight. The reality was that at the time of the announcement, most of the other stuff the the press release was so early in development and so far out in regards to being ready for cinstruction that it was going to be years before any significant work was visible. If I recall, WOC was originally supposed to debut earlier and construction got pushed back in order to fit in with the rest of the work around the pier on MFW (Mickey's Fun Wheel) and the Orange Stinger retheme. |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Too early to tell, but I doubt it. I'm not sure how you can weave all of the disparate films that will be featured into a coherent story. I expect it to be a travelougue sort of show with stirring visuals and music. |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Why does it need a story to be compelling and beautiful? The Bellagio fountains are merely artistic interpretation of music. That is what this show will be as well, but on a MUCH larger scale, and with color. Intensely vibrant color if the test videos that have been posted are any indication.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I don't need one in a water show. Parades don't have real stories either. I do expect a certain theme of cohesiveness but really... i just want it to entertain. Nothing more.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Fantasmic! never had a true story to it either. All you have to know to follow the action of the show is that the forces/imaginations of good will triumph over the forces/imaginations of evil. There are elements of many Disney films throughout, but they are strung together with that fundamental idea. And if World of Color follows with a similar idea, combined with memorable emotional music, we are in for quite a show. |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I guess you're right. I just wonder how they're going to organize it. Generally those "compelling and beautiful" shows (which they are) have some story, or at least a theme, but I guess I'll just wait and see. By the way, when I say "theme", I mean it as the central focus of the show, not to say that parades don't have a "theme", but the bigger, grander shows (IllumiNations, Fantasmic!) revolve around one idea, whereas the parades are more spontaneous.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II One need to cosider that WOC is mainly to help keep guests stay in the park longer. Ig guests are there during the day enjoying some of the other attractions the night show would most likely convince them to stay a few hours longer. This would then increase food sells. The opening of the beer garden, the future expansion of cosina cucamanga and the new chinese restuarant as well as the re-establishment of the wine restuaranat woudl then have the necessary guests during dinner time that is needed to keep them operational |
