I think it's still up. I'm not one who knows stuff frequently so you don't have to listen to me.

I know... that one took me a minute to figure out.

Any word on when the face will come down or are we playing "hurry up and wait?"

I would think they'll need a crane for that. So if a crane arrives, that's probably what it's there for. It should also be interesting to see if the put the new Mickey on both sides.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I think they should keep the base of the sun, but remove all the facial feature, and put that on the back of the sun wheel.

    Sun is still up.

I think they are going to paint the whole thing first then remove the sun.

But then you risk damaging the new paint. There is also the issue of painting an area that will be directly covered and not painting areas that are currently covered but will not be in the future.

But they're just taking the facial features off of the sun, right?

The bigger sunburst backing is going to stay with the new Mickey Face.

When will they start draining the lagoon?

With all this crazy rain, it probably filled up again!

Here are some photos from the 12/15 Dateline Disneyland that show the painting at the Sun Wheel and the first signs of the reworked facades at the Games of the Boardwalk.

    MICKEY MOVES IN
The first signs of the Mickey Mouse makeover for the Sun Wheel are now visible. The new red and black color scheme can be seen through the scaffolding.

The back of the sun is getting new solid yellow paint.

The nearby Games of the Boardwalk have visible progress on their new facades.
