They will eventually. Right now the focus is on the Games of the Boardwalk...

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

So I'm guessing that they'll just be painting the wheel in wedges and then rotating it to work on the next segment. That would explain how reinforced the scaffolding is out into the (dry) bay. It can't be attached to the wheel if the wheel needs to turn. No matter what though there's no way you could get me out on that scaffolding!

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

I don't know about that.^ When I was there on Friday, there was scaffolding going through the wheel, so unless they plan on removing those to rotate it, they are probably going to just work their way up. And there are probably safety issues with moving it with all the scaffolding there.

They sure seem to be taking their time to remove the sun face.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

It will come down at an appropriate time based on the order that they need to get things done. They're not taking their time, they are probably trying to have a crane on site for the least amount of time possible. So when they are ready to do eveything they'll need the crane for, they'll take down the sun. Most likely, they'll also put the Mickey in place right away too so the crane can be done and move on. Each day a crane is on site is expensive.

Who's being negative. Thank goodness they are taking their time. The later the better to me.

He does have a point here. That was a huge structure, this is just a face that's just probably a flat panel.

As for the scaffolding, they only need to cover half the wheel; all they need to do is rotate the wheel when the section is done. For the slats going through the wheel, they just take them out when its rotated.

Common sense!

The Epcot wand didn't require the time it took to drain Paradise Bay, nor did they need to build scaffolding for the Epcot wand removal -- it was all done by crane.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

whats the rush to have the sun face taken down anyway? There is still plenty of other work that is being done. Besides the mickey face will probably be one of the last things they install.
